Most of Five Points has narrow roads and few sidewalks. People (including me) walk there, but I wouldn't consider it pedestrian-friendly. It's much better the closer one gets to Pratt. Five Points also has a couple of idiotic traffic circles on O'Shagnasty. I swear these are the stupidest traffic calming devices ever implemented. If you're asking in terms of living within walking distance from work and shopping, I'd say Old Town qualifies, for both walk (or bike ride) to work if you work downtown (mostly private practices -lawyers, medical; and to lesser extent local govt, banks, utilities, library, hotels, restaurants, engineering firms, the tire place), and if willing to grocery shop "exclusively" at Star Market. Tulip, I work for a practicing physician who is also an attorney who used to specialize in medical malpractice. He decided after a few years that he enjoyed practicing medicine more than he liked being in a courtroom. He still does legal/medical consultations for other medical malpractice attorneys and personal injury protection attorneys to see if they have a legal case for their clients.
