Hi All, Nowadays most modern diesels come with some from of Particulate Filter to catch/trap those nasty unburnt hydrocarbons. The system is extremely clever as it regenerates/cleans itself out. If you want to have a read of how it actually works, what happens when you have one on your car, then take a look here: http://www.mrexclusive.co.uk/how-it-...filter-syst em/

Who's done it? Who's not going to and why? My parts are on backorder so I'm left with extra time to think about how the shop will molest my pipes I'm pretty sure this goes for all 2009 diesels so if you havent heard about this, you may want to ask... i think.

Hi All, I have a 2004 C220Cdi and the engine management light came on when I took it for inspection was told it was the particualte filter and he informed me that perhaps a good run in the car would clear it. The system was reset and I gave it a 600 mile round trip. The light never came back on but today some 3 weeks after the run it's back on. The mechanic said I would be ...

I've had my diesel particle filter go bad on the 2007 Sprinter, and it's really steep to buy a new one. Does anyone have an idea on where, or if, I could buy a used one from a wrecked vehicle?

I've just picked up a second hand A4 S line 2007 tiptronic that has been limited to occasional very short trips (total mileage 10K kms at 2 years old). Took it for its first long run on the weekend and got the warning light for the particulate filter. Following instructions, I ran it hot (above 60kph in 4th and 5th) for the best part of an hour with no change. On the way back home the following...

Just in case you've never really seen one before - here's a labelled pic of the expensive piece of exhaust pipe as fitted to the PD170 FRs, known as a D.P.F or diesel particulate filter. The labels are as follows: RED ARROWS: 1. The end which is bolted directly to your turbo 2. The downflow to the rest of the exhaust BLUE ARROWS: 1. Exhaust pressure sensor 2...

OK, so, having had the truck in again to replace the diesel particulate filter - so far always under warranty - I am coming to the stark realization that I may need to do some "testing" with a pass through system. I simply will not be able to afford to drive a truck that has to have 3k worth of repairs every 25k miles..... Of course that would only occur during my trips to Mexico so I ...

There is a lot of guess work about how much bypasses open and if oil traveling over the dirty media will carry particles through the bypass. I think most OEM filters have thread end bypasses eliminating the possibility of that. I see no reason to run a dome end bypass if you can find a filter with a thread end.
