this should be obvious and really easy to do, but for some reason when i add part_system_position(emitter1,blue.x,blue.y) or part_emitter_region(ramalamadingdong,emitter1,blue .x,blue.x,blue.y,blue.y,ps_shape_ellipse,1) the particle system disappears

particle weight? kinda hard to explain why i ask this.... would a particule derived from helium weigh the same as one from uranium? the lightest paticule has to be light (its least affected by gravity)? or am i way off the mark? if you could acheive a gravitaional effect on light then you could travel faster in our given space?...

Hi - I'm trying to create a fireworks background using as3. I had found one tutorial that looks great, but uses as2 and i'm having trouble converting it to as3. i've done all of the lynda.com tutorials on particle systems, but still can't quite figure out how to get the firework working correctly. here's the as2 fireworks that i like: http://www.wipeout44.com/tutorials/flash_fireworks .asp...

PARIS (Reuters) - French scientists have devised a way of using particle accelerators to authenticate vintage wines, one of France's top research bodies said this week. The new method tests the age of the glass in wine bottles by analyzing X-rays emitted when the bottles are placed under ion beams produced by a particle accelerator, the National Centre for Scientific Research (...

Ah, with a little variable manipulating, all is well. Thanks for the help! Here's a pic of the final result: http://i33.tinypic.com/beanut.jpg It looks awesome, with the few stray particles spiraling along the beam.

Are we talking technology that exploits sub-atomic particle principles, or technology that works on an attometre-scale? If it is the former they are looking at proton accelerators for cancer treatment - big deal this summer was a proposal to build one here in Chicago. There is also the fact that our understanding of quantum electrodynamics is what lets us finally figure out how to build things...

My mate tells the story of the local evangelicals demanding entry into the local wargames/role-playing club and being very disappointed to find everyone happily playing a WWI dogfight game with bi-planes on wires. Exit deflated, would-be exorcists, sheathing crucifixes and unloading the silver bullets from the .45s. Meanwhile, in the back room, the DnDers carried on with a ceremony which ...

Loran, it works here too (max 2009 32-bit) albeit slow as f##k, it works. Although at frame 71 max is already using 1.2 gigs of memory. Having such a big high poly collision object is going to screw you big time, you need to do something about that. Either make an adaptable collision object the is only mid/high poly near and around the boat or think of something else. Max is ...

Anders Källberg : Thanks for enlightening me, Howie, I kind of guessed something along that line. What I'm really curious about is really why these subjects are called "liberal". Could it be because they are not as strict and bound by rules and laws as are the natural sciences and mathematics? Cheers, Anders They are the evolution of the classical Artes Liberales , i.e., the curriculum ...

Regarding the note in the "about me" section... Would it be possible to get the tracks in .wav files or something, for those of us who don't have garageband?
