Parrying build? (ToB) I can't seem to find any parrying builds around. Been reading on the dandwiki, and saw a feat: Riposte v2 . Can't seem to find it outside it though, so I think it might be homebrew. If the feat works, it'll be fun to have a TWF Warblade, who parries, then riposte for AoO (and using the class feature that ...

I'm curious about a few things regarding parrying and reach. In one case, suppose we have a martial artist using Karate trying to strike someone with a Quarterstaff. Suppose the martial artist is in close combat and makes a strike. According to the rules for Defense in Close Combat on B392, the combatant with the Quarterstaff cannot parry an attack in close combat, because the ...

I've read how a parrying dagger has a larger window for parrying, so I've been testing it out. After trying to parry with different timings on the dreglings in 1-1, I can honestly say I can se no difference at all. I still have to parry with very precise timing. Or am I missing something?

Since there are now several sources for Insight AC greater than that given by Parrying and Greater Parrying (Shroud, Levik's, Dragontouched) I feel the level increase for these effects is too high (+4 and +8). If the level addition were reduced we would be able to get some more powerful prefixes in combination making them much more useful. This would be particularly good for handwraps which:...

Can anyone shed some light on the Parrying System? Seems hard as heck to parry, since I just seem to straight up block or miss and not time it juuuust right. Even when I get lucky though I haven't 'matched' any skills yet, and I've parried at least 40 times already. Can anyone explain any tricks to Parrying or how the Matching system works? Much appreciated.

You must know some basic rules. You cant parry; Ranged weapons Magics Animals/Beasts only weapon's you cant parry any Demons/Boss Any shield attacks. (I can be wrong but , I'm pretty sure its impossible.) Parrying + crit basic. Sword/Axe/Alberg are the easier weapons to dodge. you need to time L2 right before the enemy hit you then press R1 during the momentum , if you press L2 to early it ...

1. Punches from the clinch should be added.. a whole in depth clinch game in general should definitely be considered for the next fight night. 2. Play round highlights from previous round, during round breaks. 3. You should only be able to parry if you block the side that the punch is thrown. A block should simply just block the punch (e.g. FNR3) obviously not make it...

The rules for Karate and Judo state that you can parry once with each hand, and that the cumulative penalties for parrying (-4 or -2 with TBAM) more than once accrue separately for each hand. If a character takes Extra Arms, is he able to parry in this manner with each of the extra hands?

I don't know how everyone feels about this, but I feel disabling blow is a complete joke. 1 point disabled my block/parry for somewhere between 6-10 seconds. This happened even when I was not parrying or blocking. I haven't tested it yet, but I don't think there is an immunity timer to this as well. In the perfect game, here is how I would fix this: Blocking/parrying...

First of all let me say that i am loving the expansion, the new skills and the specializations but (you knew it was coming ) i think that the new melee/archery skill which blocks parrying has threw the balance for 2handers vs 1handers out of the window and something need to be done to bring it back. I do agree that turtling was an issue and that it had to be somehow removed, the problem is ...

OOC: This thread is closed for Myself and Rayne_Clowd. IC: The sound of metal on metal was the only sound one could hear as the two fighters tried to best the other in a fight to the death. Dodging, parrying and blocking the blows sent at one another, their weapons were but mere flashes at times. Each one coming closer and closing to ending the elegant dance they were locked in. But ...

1)... What weapons can I use to riposte after parrying? Is it possible with Blunt weapons? 2)... Are backstabs with Blunt weapons weaker than backstabs with swords, daggers, etc? I'm low level, but I backstabbed a Black Phantom with a Great Club and barely did any extra damage, but when I got backstabbed by him (I think he had a dagger), it did half of my health. 3)... Do backstabs/ripostes ...

Should have to hit when someone is actually parrying AND put on GCD with other weapons. Honestly the skill is crap, it should be an attack that will bypass parry... BUT debuffs your melee defense the instance you are using it (e.g. you expose your chest reaching around their shield)
