5 years ago or so I picked up a nice WWII issue Colt 1911-A1 marked US Property and US Army for $500 because it had been polished and blued. Today I sandblasted it lightly and parkerized it to help return it to its original configuration. I added some issue plastic grips a year ago or so. It's not original but at leas it looks like it should....

I came across a 1922 '03 with a 1922 barrel. It has 'AAR' stamped on the left side of the stock. All the metal except the sights are parkerized. Did they get parkerized during arsenal rebuilds or is this something someone did during a restoration perhaps?

WTS an Excellent condition Springfield 1911-A1 Loaded Parkerized in 45ACP. This is the loaded model which has extended controls, genuine Novak night sights, lowered and flared ejection port, front cocking serrations, and a beavertail grip safety. Looking for one of these for my brother. He has a Springrield Micro 45 with a std safety. But he's a lefty and would like to have an ambi safety, preferably one that's parkerized to match his pistol. How decent is this model? I saw one for $450 in mint condition (no scratches, marks, etc., with dark parkerizing). I like the plain look, with no front serrations. This is the one with small sights, one small safety, lanyard MSH, short trigger, bull barrel, and a slide-to-frame fit that is surprisingly tight. I see plenty of full size GI models floating around for $400 or so...

I'm wondering what you guys think is the best kind of finish for a CCW? I've heard that hard chromed is better then "blued" or "parkerized". What about nickel plating?
