I'am trying to make connection to my corporate network via VPN PPTP. My company uses Microsoft Window Server 2008 Remote Access -services where PPTP and L2TP both are supported, but there are some discussions on web that L2TP isn't working on any Mac machines (Microsoft has't implement the standard correctly). Problem is still that I can't make connection even with VPN PPTP if my ...

I manage the network for a small non-profit. The organization officers, and I, are authorized to connect remotely to the office computer using a PPTP VPN. Until last month I had this all working: the office computer was WinXP Pro, I had another XP computer and a Vista laptop, others had other computers including some Win7 release candidates. And everybody could connect. Trouble was, they ...

I wonder if I am seeing the problem mentioned here http://old.nabble.com/samba-3.2-brea...d18715806.h tml . I can connect a WIndows PPTP client just fine if using chap-secrets, but when I use the winbind plugin, the client says that it can not authenticate the server (both are on the same domain). They said it was resolved in 3.2, but we are using 3.4.3. Is it possible this bug ...

Running Windows 7 Pro (64 bit) and trying to map drives via a simple batch file that can be executed when needed. Connecting via PPTP VPN to a SBS2003 (SP1) - the Win7 machine is not joined to the domain I can successfully map drives using NET USE manually typed via a non-elevated command prompt, but when I run the SAME syntax via a batch file it fails. I had to disable UAC in order to get ...

I have set up a new incoming connection under Windows 7 enterprisde. Everything went fine. However, when looking into the properties of the new incoming VPN connection I get a note saying that there is no hardware avialable to support incoming connections. My WAN MINIPORT (PPTP) is hidden but reports that it functions correctly. It looks to me like a problem of binding the WAN MINPORT to the ...

Pitäisi asentaa useaan Windows XP/Win7 koneeseen VPN määritykset ja Windowsin omalla onnistuisi hyvin. Ainut vaan on, että on erittäin kova homma käydä joka koneella tekemässä tarvittavat määritykset. Onko jotain softaa mikä osaisi asentaa Windows koneeseen VPN:än ennaltamääritetyillä asetuksilla? Kiitos avusta!

I got my VPN working today, I'm happy to say. I set up the incoming connection fresh on the receiving box, after the system was rebuilt; and initial testing didn't show the Error 720. I had a remote tester working with me, and between us we managed to get the VPN working by unchecking TCP/IPv6 in the Networking configuration at both ends of the link (since I don't know enough about IPv6 to do ...

Shot in the dark but I had a similar issue on a Mac which was cured by setting IPv6 to off in advanced settings. May or may not be any help on windows.

The clearest discussion of the issue is at This is a change in behavior for Windows 7 and Vista over XP. XP would pass the VPN credentials to SMB authentication only to machines over the VPN. Windows 7/Vista will use the VPN credentials for all SMB authentication requests, both local requests and for machines over the VPN. This behavior seems somewhat counter-intuitive. ...
