Hey peoples, I'm going to be doing my Honours year at University next year, with a view to continuing on to a Master's degree. This being the case, I have justified to myself that it will be worthwile to make another addition to my arsenal. The picc trumpet is something I've wanted to tackle for quite some time, and my current teacher is definitely going to bring the best results out in...

( As your onc says, unless your veins are very bad, it's not really worth it. I've had both a PICC and a Hickman line \(as my veins are really bad, and the left arm can't be used due to lymphoedema\). Both have ended up with me having infections, despite rigorous maintenance of the lines. Both times I needed 5 days stay in hospital on iv antibiotics to clear it! So unless your onc has ...

Does anyone have experience with a PICC line? For six to eight weeks of chemo (once a week treatment), is it worth it to have the PICC line, or just go with a weekly IV? Pros? Cons? Also, if you have a PICC line installed, how limited is your arm movement/mobility? I have a two-year old and I'm worried that if I have a PICC line I won't be able to pick him up ...

My boyfriend is in PICC in Philly right now and I'm hoping someone can answer some questions since everyone who works in the Philadelphia Prison System seems retarded. What are the visiting hours? Depending on where I look, I get a different answer. It says on this site 9:15-6 Monday through Friday but then I called and the guy told me you can only visit until 5 and you have to sign in by ...

The Bach long bell is actually made by Stomvi with a Reeves alignment. I haven't played one but I hear they are very good. I have a Schilke P5-4 and it is excellent. I hear that the new P7-4 is really great, bigger sound (less quack).

I had a chest port also, it was called a Groshong Catheter. It looked like an IV line in my chest (above skin). I was put in a "twilight"sleep when they inserted it and had my first chemo right after I woke up. I had it in for 10-12 weeks. 6 weeks for chemo treatments, and the rest was waiting for my levels to come back up. My doc wanted to make sure all was clear ...

Well, I guess Nurse Gary deleted his post. Yogamom: The herxes usually happen while on treatment because of all the toxins that are being released from the die off of bacteria. I'm sure you could also get brain herxes from any bacteria die off...yeast, etc. Detox baths really help with this.

( I had a PICC line back in 06 the first time I had cancer. It worked well but was a hassle to go in every week to get it flushed out. Also harder to keep it covered during warm weather. I teach pre-school and didn't want the kids to notice it so always wore long sleeves. With my reoccurance I asked for a port and I LOVE it. I never had any problems with it. I have lousy veins and can't...

( Hi Erin, I'll get getting the FEC treatment as well for the first 3 cycles with Docetaxel for the last 3 cycles \(still trying to learn all the acronyms!\). I get my 'training' next week and they have scheduled a PICC line for the 14th. No start date for chemo yet as we are trying to decide whether to do fertility treatment first. Either way, things will begin before x-mas. Good to hear...

I thought Warehouse Project is held roughly underneath Gateway House? Around that area used to be the sub level stuff at Picc (Railway Club and public toilets).

So.. just a little update. Apparently all you need to get our NICU to give in to Kangaroo Care is a nod from the lactation consultant. She called me this morning and said to push for it because it would help with my milk supply (just like EVERYONE on here kept saying but- "hey the lactation consultant says so" worked much better than "hey- the internet people say so"). I went in and asked the ...

(((Ona))) soo good to hear from you, hope the IV line lasts. I don't know the difference between that and a PICC line, but everyone here is recommending you get one. I like your new tableware Sylvia, square is the new round Lots of the TV chefs are using square plates now. Good for you Char, don't forget to use a little poetic license, move trees to get a better composition and ...

I had a picc line in my arm after my heart surgery to make it easier for them to administer meds etc......its quite a job getting it in requiring some freezing...but gives them a little bigger line to use than an IV.
