I talked to another ped and a pediatric GI today (ro) DH just emailed a pediatric GI and he called us 10 minutes later, how cool is that? I wish we had thought of that earlier (we still have our appt on the 9th, but it was good to get a phone consult). Anyway, DS is off his food strike I think even though he is still taking an hour to eat (I just discovered that if I continously walk around...

Hi - I'm hoping some more experienced parents can help me think through how to talk with ped about my desire for DD (2.5 yo) to be evaluated. Like, I'm thinking possible sensory issues, but is it an automatic turn-off to use that term with a ped, when it's not an official diagnostic category (right?)? Is a PT referral the place to start? (We're with an HMO.) I'm thinking of ...

So AAP reduced BFing rec from 2 to 1 year and Ped said they will recommend r/o Only 6 months of BFing soon with formula afterwards. I told Ped to prepare for some very angry phone calls from moms! Seems strange to keep moving these guidelines.

My son had his 4mo appt today, he's doing great and although he's a little smaller than other babies here on BBC, he's right on track with weight, development, etc. And THEN...the ped asked me what LO is eating. I answered, mostly bmilk but some formula (at least 1 bottle everyday). He said, "That's it? No solids?" Like he was all surprised. I said no and he said he wants me to start him on rice ...

Has anyone's Ped recommended using whole milk as early as 9 months? r/o DH and I are arguing. DD's Dr said it ok to start giving her cow's milk b/c of her hemoglobin levels. I keep reading that its best to wait until she is a year. DH said that if the doctor said it is ok, we should follow his advice, and if we don't trust him, then why are we using him?

WWYD? Ped office.. I'll try and make this quick, my son is 4 months old today. He had his 4 month old appointment scheduled for this Wed. Well I got a call last Friday saying to call the office because for some reason his appointment was booked under a different doctor. Help! we just came from my dd's 15 month ped appt. When the ped asked "so how does she do when you put her down still awake?" my dh told her the truth, which is that she gets nursed to sleep 90% of the time and rocked to sleep the other 10%. (Except at daycare, where she does just go to sleep on her own). The ped said, "do what you want, but just know that if you continue with that, ...

My 10 month old doesn't imitate often. She imitates coughing once in awhile. She has said babababa, but only does it when she wants to, which isn't too often. That's about all she has said. She won't say mama, dada, or anything else!!! The ped is semi-concerned, but said she would look into it at her 12 month appt. Please let me know what you think!

I'm never sure when to feed Lauren, the ped said to "feed on demand"; however as I think I mentioned before I'm not sure Lauren would ever turn down a bottle. She always acts hungry - hands near the mouth etc. So I have a hard time picking up on true hunger cues since she does these things all the time. I think she has a strong sucking reflux because she loves the pacifier too. Before I was...
