Is it NOT enough that the cancer rates in women have significantly dropped? Now, we are wanting to reduce mammograms to women after the age of 50 and decrease the number of pap smears a woman receives. Excuse me...but let me be graphic. Putting a q-tip in a cervix once a year is NOT that traumatic...no more traumatic than sex. So what is the deal here? Are we decreasing the ...

I just noticed that I'm scheduled for my annual pap roughly 1-2 days before I'm set to ovulate. Can this affect my chances at all this cycle. I would change it but it takes awhile to get in, plus I need to talk to her about my luteal phase so I don't want to delay.

The doc told me not to worry and to come back in 6 months.... also she said it should cure itself. My doc also said due to my age (19) they can't do anything else I'm guessing she means a coloscopy because of guidelines that have to follow. I would have to be 20 or older. Anybody else been through the same thing as me? Please give me some feedback! :-)

I've heard that getting a pap smear done to late in a pregnancy can be harmful. I don't know how that's just what I've heard. It makes me kind of nervous because I know most doctors like to do one. I'm only 20 and have only been with my husband so I have never gotten one (I know I definitly need too) but I'd feel more comfortable waiting until after I have my child. Anyone else opt out of...

Replying to: Abnormal Pap Smear? Abnormal can just mean that there are a few cells that look abnormal and will most likely disappear after you give birth. You will know when you have cancer trust me there would have been more said to you. I had cervical cancer in 2005 went through extensive treatment. Was told I could never get pregnant and exactly 6wks after all my treatment and removing ...

it's VERY likely to have an abnormal pap from a lot of things besides HPV. HPV itself won't cause an abnomal pap, it's what happens to the cervical cell tissue when you have HPV or have had it for a long time that causes abnormal paps... but like I said, it's not the only cause by any means. Vaginal or Yeast infections can cause it, douching, intercourse 24 hours or less ...
