What is the oxidizing agent in the following chemical reactions 1. 2MnO 4 - + 5H 2 SO 3 -> 2Mn 2+ + 5SO 4 2- + 4H + + 3H 2 O 2. 5S + 6KNO 3 + 2CaCO 3 -> 3K 2 SO 4 + 2CaSO 4 + CO 2 +3N 2 What is the reducing agent in the following chemical reaction 1. 5Fe 2+ (aq) + MnO 4 - (aq) + 8H + (aq) -> 5Fe 3+ (aq) + Mn 2+ (aq) + 4H 2 O(l) What element is oxidized in the following ...

I was thinking over the past couple days of the idea of using hydrogen peroxide as a oxidizing agent instead of nitrous oxide. The consumer grade that we all have at home is far to weak, but upon doing some research the 70%+ concentrations were actually used as rocket propellant and sometimes as a oxidizer to increase power. Now im not a proficient chemist but looking at it roughly, the fact ...

I just got a retune with 850cc injectors and noticed that I am getting worse gas mileage. Is this normal, or is it because they just started oxidizing the fuel for winter? I only have about 120 miles of city travel at the half way point on the gas tank. * Registered users of the site do not see these ads.

8. Consider the following net ionic equation for a redox reaction: 2 MnO4 2– + 2 H2O + -> 2 MnO4– + 2 OH– + H2 (a) Which reactant gets oxidized? (b) Which reactant gets reduced? (c) Which reactant is the oxidizing agent? (d) Which reactant is the reducing agent? My answers: (a) MnO4 (b) H2O (c) H2O (d) MnO4 Are these correct? NOTE: In the equation 2 MnO4 2– + 2 H2O + -> 2 MnO4– + 2 OH– + ...

Does anyone know of any good way of de-oxidizing headlights without buying anything? I probably will end up buying a lens restoration kit, but just wondering if there are any ways of removing it with "household" items. I read somewhere water and vinegar might work, but I don't want to ruin my lights...

So, I admit, I'm pretty ignorant about this stuff... anyways... I know that propane torches can be used to quench and work metal, and stuff, and acetylene torches can actually "burn" off the steel, by oxidizing it. Now, I'd like to have something that can get hot enough to cut, like acetylene, but be cheap, and safe, like propane. Am I insane, or does this wonderful invention exist? Thanks.

Richard W. Nelson: Greetings Richard! Perhaps you were skimming, but that sentence specifically pertained to a series of fluctuations in stage 5. That paragraph begins: "During stage 5 (the last 0.54 Gyr) the level of atmospheric O2 may have passed through a maximum during the Carboniferous before returning to 0.2 atm, perhaps along a rather irregular path." The summary paragraph has...

I had one of my Service 9s Armory Koted by SA for warranty (oxidizing from sweat---gentle way of putting it) and it's held up very nicely except for where the slide contacts my holster. I have a kydex holster so it wears a little there on both sides just before the loaded-indicator pin. Other than that the slide looks very nice. I imagine with a leather holster there wouldn't be any problem ...
They might be nature's greatest opportunists. Name a metabolic system or process, and they have it in use within seconds. They might decide to look like plants while persisting on oxidizing the metals they extract from the rock beneath them, or like racoons while relying on photovoltaic fur. They might eat your sarium krellide Duracells when you look the other way, or plug themselves to your wall...

Quote: Quote by: Night No. There are much much cheaper ways to completely stop global warming, which will cost less than a billion dollars. For example, pumping sulfur dioxide into the upper atmosphere (as naturally occurs in volcanic eruptions) will reduce global temperatures, especially in polar regions, and counteract greenhouse gases. That's a quick, cheap, ...

Damn near. If the pressure is low in the capsule you will get that metal discharge onto the glass causing that dark or mirror look then the filiment breaks. The old regular filiment bulbs were under a vacuum to keep the filiment from oxidizing and the newer bulbs have a inert gas in them to do the same job and you get more CP for the watts used.

Becca, lol, that is so funny. Kitties are like that. I'm sure it's because she likes the art and not that she just wishes it would fall over so she could sit on top of it. Ohh, maybe it's the heat generated by the oxidizing paint! Shoot. It's Monday and I totally forgot to take out my paper trash last night. I really really hate that. They only come once a month...
