Hi, I just wondered If I am Overtraining on my Back & Arm session. Here is my Sunday routine (I usually spend 1 hour 30 minutes in the gym) I lift as heavy as I can. - Weighted pull-ups (3x10) - Deadlifts (3x5-10) - Bicep dumbbell curls (3x12) - Bicep barbell curls (3x10) - Dumbbell rows (3x10) - Bicep curls with cable machine (3x12) - Lat pulldown (3x10) - Pulley ...

"Overtraining" is a hot topic on Bodybuilding.com. New threads pop up day in and day out, asking if rowing on Tuesday and curling on Wednesday will lead to overtraining. It's apparent that overtraining is misunderstood. I blame it on those damn broscientists, but I digress... It seems like posters mix up recovery and overtraining. Pressing one day and doing skull crushers the next will ...
I'm wondering how long does each of your guys workout last? i'm starting to question myself whether i'm overtraining or not... i tend to do 12-17 sets per muscle group and 2 muscle groups per workout so its around 24-35 sets per workout... is this too much? my workout last exactly 1hour 30 min each day, and feel that if i do lower volume it'll feel as if i did nothing at the gym... can someone ...

The title says it all. Just recently, I realized I was overtraining so I was told to take about a week off. Yesterday was Thursday, and the last day I'll have to take off is Sunday. So I'll be rested for 4 days, I have to start up again Monday because I have swim practice. Do you think my 4 day rest time is good enough?

Just wondering if the 6 day split I do is overtraining. My goal is to put on lean mass, while keeping my overall fitness up. Mon - Chest Tues - Back Wed - Legs Thurs - shoulders Fri - Biceps/triceps Sat - Core I hit the gym first thing in the morning (5:30-6) and start out with 20 min of interval cardio - 2 min intense, 1 moderate (not exactly hiit), usually the elliptical. ...

Anyone on here taken a serious GTG approach to BW stuff, in particular pullups or one armed pushups? I always thought for strength training you are best to do low reps with heavy weights, keeping it to minimum lifts per week. One armed pushups and 2 armed pullups fall into such a category for me, as low reps are all I am capable of. The argument for GTG being, training the "neural pathways" or...

I am 17 years old and I started working out when I was 15. I hit the weight room 3 times a week and did cardio 4 times a week. I got a little overzealous with my training and ended up with over training syndrome. I rested a little bit, but got back into it too soon and ended up relapsing. This pattern kept going on with longer breaks and less time to the relapses. I've gotten to the point where ...

This always seems to be the story with me. I make good progress for a month or two then my body shuts down: joints ache, prolonged muscle soreness, tired all the time. I made a conscious effort to take in enough calories and protein. Each of these workouts took about 30 mins. I realize I am neglecting legs in this routine. They do get hit some with the deadlifts. Here is the routine: Day ...

My left leg's interior LCL is popping when my left leg is extending (read: quad extension). I think it may have developed from overtraining. I cant find a cyst nor is it painful nor is there any site swelling. Anyone experienced something similar? If so, how did you treat it, if at all? I dont want to lift on it as tendon/ligament injuries can compound if they are neglected, but like most of...

Doing too little? Obviously doing too much leads to overtraining; however, are there any drawbacks to doing too little? lately, i've been doing a single set for my main lifts and 1 or 2 accessories. 7 sets per workout usually. __________________ K.I.S.S.

I'm back. In July I posted here starting with NROL in my thread "Get Big Before 16," but because of vacations without access to weights, as well as the swim season, it wasn't a success. I had gained 2-3 pounds, but a lack of calories and overtraining cause me to lose strength, motive, as well as muscle. It's now the off season, and more than ever am I pumped. At 125, 5'7'', 16 years old, I look ...

Recently I reduced the number of isolation exercises in all my workouts as I thought I was overtraining slightly. Since then I've been gettin good results (finally got past my 75kg plateau on the bench press) but I'm wondering if it would be a good idea to cut down the isolations even further. For example this was my chest/tris workout today: flat bench - 85/6, 85/5, ...
