Don't go through here very much these days, but noticed today what looked to be quite new installation of overhead wires. Guess this is all to do with Thameslink 2000, but how long and does this mean Farringdon will no longer the overhead to third rail changeover station? Martin J

Hi guys, not sure if this is the correct forum for this but I think it's the best start. We have an overhead line (I'm assuming a BT one) attached to our house. We had new windows installed yesterday which has 'unearthed' the dangling down wire from its resting place (which was originally painted into the wall). As we don't use this connection (we have a Virgin Cable running into...

The tree exploded and what have you, yet still there were people watching the broken 25000 volt cables fizzing about on the platform at Bingley station. You can't help some people. That was a good day. They had to turn off all the juice in the area and we were stuck for two and a half hours with no punters, my mate went and found a pie shop and we had a little picnic.

Looks like a great idea, but, with some of our distances and "wide open spaces" maybe more for city and campus use here.. still a good idea.. When I was a kid some cities still had electric buses, they used the old overhead wires from the trolleys but could swing to the curb. Maybe they could come back and help free up some #2 for my selfish self..

Some interesting street pics there Isaac. Notice the horrible mess of overhead wires in the Philly street. It never ceases to puzzle me why such a lot of the N.American electric/phone plant distribution is still quite third world. The Belgian pics seem to echo the Lancs milltowns. It makes you wonder just who influenced who, when you consider that a lot of the earlier settlers of of the ...
