Dear All, Can you please let me know if IBM DS 3400 is supported for Oracle 10g RAC (10.2.0.4.0). I plan to invest in IBM DS 3400 which will be used for cluster database files under ASM. If you have any supporting document, it will be helpful. Regards.

To monitor a long running process I have the process send messages to a named pipe. I was wondering if this will work in Oracle RAC where the process that's writing the messages to the pipe might be running on a different node than the session reading the pipe.

Hi, We are in the process of migrating from an old HP EVA4000 to a new HP EVA6400. We have migrated most of the systems that had storage presented from the EVA4000 with the exception of our ORACle RAC databases and wanted to check to see if anyone knew of any gotchas before we proceeded. We are using CA to replicate the LUNs that are presented to the ...

Is it possible to setup a test Oracle RAC ASM env on 2 Microsoft Hyper-v VMs like you can using VMware? I have setup a VMware test Oracle RAC env following http://www.oracle-base.com/articles/10g/OracleDB10 gR2RACInstallationOnCentos4UsingVMware.php and was hoping this could also be done with Microsoft Hyper-V. Thanks, Steve

How can Oracle SQL Developer be configured to properly connect to an Oracle RAC environment, I.E., not just setup to always connect to one of the individual nodes? http://programmersjournal.blogspot.com/2008/08/jdb c-connection-string-for-oracle-rac.html has an example of a classic and the equivalent RAC-aware version of a JDBC connection string. I've ...

Seems reasonable, but can't be certain unless you test. Make sure you backup OCR, VOTE, Database before you change the storage allocation. How big is the database ? How long will your downtime be ? It may be cleaner to just reinstall CRS and restore the database from backup ? Are you using ASM ? If so then you could just add new devices to ASM, ...

I think you are right, because Oracle does not support RAC on virtual environments - with the exception of its own VM,of course. Unfortunately I'm not aware of a document which deals with RAC on Hyper-V,there are many for VMWare. Werner
