Whenever I right click on the optical drive icon in Computer the shell extension drop down menu shows only the option to Eject even if when the tray is already open. 1 person needs an answer I do too

Hey guys. Recently both my Optical drives have started vanishing on me a couple minutes after start-up. My Cousin has a MBP Early 2009 model. Her optical drive keeps trying to eject a CD when there is nothing in the drive. The only way to get it to stop trying to eject a CD when there is no CD in the drive is to put a CD in the optical drive. I tried to reset the PRAM, but this did not solve the problem. I have a few old Macs, one of which is a SCSI-based G3 laptop. I also have lots of old data on 128 MB removable magneto-optical disks. I have two old APS MO disk drives but have been unable to get them to work. The disk utility that came with the drives can see them, but is unable to mount the disks on the desktop. Within the last 5 months i purchased a MacBook, and have been happy with it. But recently i tried to eject a cd i put in it and it wont eject correctly. It makes a sound like its eject but doesn't. Hello, SO, I have been loading a .dmg file via Toast 10 on my macbook, its a game disc to start up the game, the game app seems to want the disc loaded for some strange reason, so instead of lugging a disc around I just load the .dmg.
