I had an Openreach engineer visit before (around a month and a half ago) as i was getting some ridiculous noise and constant disconnections with my broadband and it seemed to be fine after the callout. Now i'm getting random noise and disconnections again (not half as bad as before, but still). I avoided the charge for the callout before as he apparently changed something over at the ...

To cut a long story short, I'm trying at present to get Talk Talk to arrange for a BT Openreach engineer to come out and replace an old RF2 filter for the upgraded RF3 filter. Openreach engineers replace these as standard whenever they encounter them as they are a known cause of ASDL problems. In my case I believe it's affecting my line quality therefore reducing my speeds. First hurdle is ...

Anyone see tonight's Watchdog featuring Openreach and people being charged for repairs to BT infrastructure outside their property on a public street? I saw one item mention that the property tenant/owner was charged because she was not able to repair it herself, but the cable was in the street. I thought it was illegal to be repairing BT infrastructure after the demarcation point. ...
I'm interested to know what the standard Openreach overhead cable is and if there is anything better. After a quick Google I found this: http://www.fscables.com/tele-1128.php It lists both shielded and armoured cable for use both overhead and underground. If it were possible, at the customers cost, could/would Openreach be prepared to change the cable from the property ...

In reply to a post by Anonymous: hello where can i buy the bt extension sockets from as a kit ? I want an orignal one please not cheap/copies thanks peter j With regards to extensions i dont think there are such things as branded BT only extensions. I think the only things branded as such are master sockets/faceplates. I know for a fact one extension in...

My sister has a new house which has one of these new fangled OpenReach (grey) master sockets on the outside of the house which seems to split into 3 and feed a further 6 extensions. I had wanted to fit a converted master socket (ADSLnation etc) so that I could get the maximum out of the line but can't find anyway of making it work with this new style external master socket. When I ...

Just keep hold of any references you can and ask the engineer what he's done at the exchange. You'll be armed if it happens again then. Worth trying to get whatever reference the engineer has as well.

From this date e-MLC will provide an RFS date as per the above for planned cabinets and line qualification data, including forecast up and downstream speed, at either Postcode or Directory Number ...

I don't believe it only applies to new lines. There have been several posts on these forums of people with long lines that have degraded over a period, and after a number of fault calls the line has been declared unfit for broadband. That is "end of story" if it happens. Re the FTR, as was pointed out to me only a couple of days ago - because I have always failed to realise it ...
