I've been maintaining 'off-site' backups manually for the last year or so by swapping two external drives to and from work. In the meantime I've also started backing up online with Mozy and it seems to work reasonably well but I've always excluded my Aperture library to minimize the uploading time. I'm curious now to start uploading my library to Mozy but am wondering how it will ...

Does anybody use the online backup service provided by http://mozy.com/ ? They have 2 account types. One free 2 GB account and an unlimited account for $5 a month. It sounds great for that price but the question is if it really is great. I believe you get what you pay for and $5 a month doesn't get you much so I wonder what the downside of that service is. They do claim it is possible...

I've been reading rave reviews about this online back up service and at around £25 for unlimited storage it sure looks good. Anyone using it? http://www.carbonite.com/default.aspx

I need some help on trying to convert my backup file. I want to purchase the online version of Quickbooks because I've been having so many problems with my computer shutting down and not working all the time. Having the online version ables me to check my quickbooks on any computer. The only file I have is a backup file. I don't have the original 2008 version CD . I don't have the computer ...

I let my online backup with Connected pass a month ago and as is the usual I got a virus that caused my computer to re-boot over and over. I took it to a data fixer and got it back a,ok. $183 later. Not bad in my opinion. I could have lost 30 days of QB Pro with no paper trail to fix. I came home and backed up to a flash devise. Should I get a backup external hard drive? I don't like the online ...

Yes, which is why you want the data at two different places. Your home isn't so likely to burn the same week that the web backup site closed their operation. With physical things, you don't have an option. With binary data, it is easy to fork off the information into many baskets - each with the full set of information. From a quick view, the LinkStation seems to be an excellent product. ...

I back up the Vault to an external LaCie hard drive. I am going to investigate creating a Smart Album of highly rated images to see if I can back that up externally using my MobileMe account. I can't justify offsite, online storage for my entire library, but I think the selects could make sense.

I use it, and I am very happy - it is the best ' no brain' backup solution I have ever tried - but... 1) Yes, it is surprisingly slow restoring files 2) Yes, it is a bit silly of them not to backup mp3 files by default 3) In order to stop people using one licence to backup an entire network, it doesn't work with network or USB-connected drives or any partitions that aren't ...

i don't use mozy, but i do backup online to the server where my website is hosted. i backup by exporting finished projects, but this depends on how you organize your aperture library. for me, each shoot is a project, and when i'm done editing, i export and upload to the server. exporting projects is also efficient for local backups.
