( My oncologist recommended it when we were determining if I needed chemo to treat my cancer. Luckily my score was low and in addition to the other factors of my tumor, chemo wasn't needed. It will help you make an educated decision. Good luck! , )

( I got my surgicall path report today, and there is no oncotype dx listed, but since I'm HER2+ it's a moot point, I guess. I have to have chemo. I'd be curious though. , )

( Of course you need to follow your gut and your discussions with your doctors. I'd be happy with 18 oncodx score. Mine was 20. I was 1 month shy of 50 at dx and for me, I did not want radiation, so I opted for bilateral mx. Your and my dx is close in tumor size, grade, etc., but mine was lobular not ductal. My onco said that if you receive 4% or less benefit, the side effects may not ...

( I have a feeling that I already posted here but I suppose I haven't... Mary, are you still going to be on Tamoxifen and Zoladex after you are done with chemo? I am interested especially because I, too, am an intermediate metabolizer. I am planning to go on Zoladex once I recover from the Lupron. I am really confused about all of that, though. I think to myself: if I am taking Zoladex, why ...

Read about these tests on breastcancer.org Expensive, about 3900.00 Medicare will pay and some insurance Companies will...so check first. If ins. says no your onc will contact them and let them know the test is much cheaper than years of chemo, ususally changes their mind. What I'm getting from it is that the test will be able to let your onc know if you need chemo or not. ...

my oncotype took 3 weeks, it was difficult to wait that long. My oncologist's nurse was persistent about calling and following up. I was told 3-4 months from dx to begin treatment. Take care!

( Hi there - you are in the grey zone in terms of treatment and recurrance stats. Your cancer is highly ER and PR positive, so tamox is a good thing and should be effective. Ask your onc about the CYP26 test to assess if you are a goo metabolizer of tamox - some doctors support this test, some don't, but most will use it as one of the factors in the development of a treatment plan. "the ...

( I had a discrepency between both as well but mine was for ER. Path said positive \(weak though\) and Oncotype said negative, making me a triple neg. I'm not sure what the PR involvement is. HER2 decides on the Herceptin, ER decides on hormone treatement. Here I am a survivor and not even sure what the PR decides!! Call the oncotype people and they'll answer all your questions, I did and ...

Congratulations, according to the literature OncotypeDx sends along with your score (and I can't believe your onc. didn't give you a copy) 13 is in the low risk of recurrence range which goes from zero to 17.Many women in this range, depending on other circumstances, do not need chemo. Tell your onc. you want the literature that came with this score so you can interpret it for yourself. Geez......

( Hi Helen, I just started radiation therapy but I still feel that there was something more I could have done. I feel like doctors are afraid to give their opinion because of the chance of being sued. Some are more thorough and want everything for their patients, and others are more laid-back. All I want to know is from their clinical experience, what do they think? , )
