i noticed this for the first time just last night. the mini-map showing me and the surroundings is just a little off. like i was walking along a bridge, and according to mini-map i would have been in the water beside the bridge. anyone else notice this? or was it just my game messing up a little?

That's a fair point, and it could well be that they are wrong and Kojima is just trying to cover his ass, but considering that this is Kojima, I wouldn't be surprised if it was true, and not because the man is a genius or revolutionary. I'll echo Ed's comments. Cellular based navigation is OK, if you happen to have signal. But soon as you lose that signal, you're on your own. I traveled through the same areas Ed did this summer, and experienced areas where I had no coverage as well (I believe Ed uses a GSM network, while I use CDMA). I was glad I had Garmin XT on my Treo!
