The OPPO BDP-83 is now faster then the PS3 at loading discs and at powering on (Reference November 2009 Widescreen Review magazine. Pages 32,34, and 35) Now the OPPO BDP-83 beats the PS3 at everything related to optical disc playback accept for the fact the OPPO player will not play videogames. According to several older reviews the OPPO use to have...

I decided to pick up the Oppo and sold my BD60 to a friend of mine. I wanted a player without any freezing issues and so far haven't had any problems with the Oppo. However like most of you said I would not see a difference in picture quality and that is correct. Now I am looking at the Denon 2500BTCI. This unit has been discontinued so I am a little cautious about buying it. Just in ...

Hi just asking if some one has had the same thing Terminator Salvation Blu-ray will not go from the top menu to let you play the movie it will work on my PS3 but not on my OPPO BDP-83 Blu-ray Player at all and all my old blu rays will work and the new star trek works on it but not Terminator Salvation
I care about blu-ray PQ, upsampling PQ on standard dvd's and audio quality. Is there anything other than the Oppo I s/b looking at? I've read about this Denon 2010, but it appears to be $700, although maybe you can get it for $600. That's still a hundred bucks over an Oppo..... All comments welcome....

I did a search and couldn't find any comparisons in reagards to the sony ps3 vs oppo bd83. Did anyone do any comparisons or know if the oppo is better in image quality? I might use the ps3 for about 4 or 5 games but that is about it.

Earphone set supplied with phone uses an odd size micro usb connector, the socket of which also provides data link and charging facility.Does anyone know an adaptor available for this type phone to convert to mini 3.5m jack stereo o/put.Or better still a company who supply the replacement earphone set,as the original set were not very robust.

Would be interested to hear from others who own this 'universal' player. I've had mine for a few weeks now, and CD/HDCD/SACD sound really great! Upscaled DVD's look great too, but for some reason, I hear some 'static' or noise when playing some DVD soundtracks. I wonder if it's the player or just poorly recorded/transferred DVD's. How do you like your 980H for 2-channel high-end audio...

I have two questions, I noticed that the BDP-83 has an ethernet port on the back, can you connect it to your home home network and use it to play media that is on your computers? Also the main motherboard has a SATA connector, has anybody tried to connect a hard drive to the unit? Thanks, Sal

I have a new panasonic S1 plasma. The cnet review stated it did poor on the 1080i film resolution tests. I know the S1 cannot do a proper 1080p/24 it applies a 2:3 pulldown. I use an OPPO bdp-83 for blu rays/dvds. I have it set to "source direct" so it simply sends the disc information over as it was encoded to my ONKYO TX-SR875. Onboard the Onkyo resides a silicon optix reon chip. I ...

Which Harmony remote should I get? I'm a bit confused by all the different choices for Harmony remotes currently. Which one should I get? I just need to be able to control my Sony HDTV, TiVo HD, Oppo BDP-83 Blu-Ray player and Outlaw Audio 1050 AV receiver (a bit old). The main thing I'm worried about is the receiver since that's what I ...

Hi guys. I would like to bring my HT setup (Yamaha RX-V1800, SVS sub, B&W 685sx4, B&W HTM62, TW4000 projector, Oppo BDP-83) to my girlfriend's house over Christmas. Being a bit naive when it comes to insurance, I was hoping to get some feedback from others. The problem is that my girlfriend only has home but not contents insurance. First question is, if she did have contents insurance ...

I'm in the early days of archiving my multichannel SACDs to hard drive. I've figured out how to record from my Oppo analog outs, to my M-Audio Delta 1010LT, using Audition 1.0 as recording software, and save them as interleaved 6-channel PCM (or as individual files per channel, or even as WMA Pro files). What I haven't been able to figure out yet, is how I would go about splitting a long ...

Your Oz player can be Region-free for DVD, why do you want the cheapo US one to be too? You don't need voltage adaptor for every player, the Oppo for instance accepts 110-240V.
