rta9 how low do the ohms drop too? Im thinking I want at least 500 watts to each tower. I had the emo xpa-1's but had to sell them due to low on cash. Now need power again. Im thinkin of rebuying them or get 2 emo xpa-2's and bridge them for 1000 watts at 8ohms. My main concern is how low in ohms to the rtia9's drop to? Also if anyone has any...

This may sound like a dumb question but i'm a tad confused as to why the Beyerdynamic DT 770 @250ohms would be prefered over the Beyerdynamic DT 770 @80ohms. My understanding of ohms law is the higher the impedence/resistance, the more power that is required to drive it. And driving 4 ohms speakers with say an 8 ohms amplifier is wasted power/current that causes the amplifier to overheat. I've ...

Hi - I am a novice and have a question. I recently bought LSI F/X surrounds for my home theatre set up. I made the mistake of not checking the impedence of these speakers before purchasing. Now I realize that these are rated at 4 Ohms where as my receiver (Denon AVR 3803) is rated at 8 ohms. Before I hook them up I wanted to get some opinions from other users out there if it really matters. ...

My brand new (25 years ago!) pair of Magnepan SMGa speakers just showed up. I've got a Yamaha HTR-6230 receiver to use until Monday when my NAD 3150 integrated amp shows up. I'm afraid to use the Yamaha since the manual only mentions 8 ohms and 6 ohms and the speakers are 4 ohms. Should I hook them up anyway? The other problem is the NAD. I'm not sure if it's rated for 4 ohms either....

Amp's and ohms. Hey there, I am lost On an amplifier, for example this one : Behringer EP4000 Amplifier The specs say this : 2 x 2,000 Watts into 2 Ohms; 2 x 1,400 Watts into 4 Ohms; 4,000 Watts into 4 Ohms (bridge mode) Ok so i guess if my speakers are 2 ohms, then i get a max of 4,000 watts out of it ? If they are 4 ...
Hello I'm trying to get my head around ohms law, and have a question. If I have a motor that draws 12volt 100amp, and I would like to drop the amps down to 30, would I put a 360ohm resister in line. 12 * 30 = 360 V * I = R Side note can you get a resister that is 480 watt? Thank you P.S I've got some nicchrome wire that I could cut ...
This is a like new Carvin BRX10 4x10" Cabinet - handles 1200 watts at 8 ohms. Sounds absolutely amazing - huge bottom end with lots of midrange punch and adjustable tweeter. I have played through many high end cabs and this cab can hang with all of them. Carvin covers these in Duratex - way more durable than most tolex/carpet covered cabs and extremely road worthy. This cab has only been used in ...

Probably a simple question for electrical people, to which I never picked up the answer in my studies. I know I'm missing something simple, or just thinking about it the wrong way. A transformer increases voltage, and decreases current. And yet...Ohms law states that higher voltage results in higher current. For some reason this doesn't fit into what a ...

Does such a thing exist? It would be very difficult for me to handle anything that is not essentially transportable, but I'm not aware of anything that would drive Beyerdynamics' 600 Ohm DT770's. Suggestions?

I'm just going to be using my passive i got with my horns and cx6v2's(2ohm),so i need a nice clean amp around 100 x 2,so at 2,i'll get around 200. On the image dynamic boards, they said this would work, need to take the passives out of the case, but thats cool. Was thinking of going active, but need to buy a crossover, more rca's...blah,blah... Hello, I read a couple reviews that stated this center speaker's impedance was 4 OHMS and could be hazardous to other equipment in your system based on 8 OHMS of impedance. Any truth to this? Thanks Mike

I recently bought a great pair of Wharfedale Modus 1.6 speakers locally. Its rated at 170 wpc @ 8 ohms. I currently run it out of my Denon receiver (AVR-488) which I think outputs 75 or 80 wpc. I find it to be musically sound with this amplification. But my question is if I swap my receiver with a power amp maybe 125-200 wpc, will I hear a great jump in performance? If so what will be the most ...
