Greetings all! I come here from a long history of driving VWs and, of course, rebuilding their engines. It's nice to see that there's a good support community among the Suby crowd. Maybe it's a mid-life crisis, but I'm selling my last VW and just picked up a very nice '93 Legacy with a well-running leakless engine and a knock on the #3 cylinder. I'm planning on taking it to bits soon and ...

Has anyone ever replaced the O-ring in their heater core where the heater hose connect?? I have one leaking and the dealer says I have to pull the dash, remove the heater core and replace the entire coupler that goes from the heater itself, attaches to the firewall and, the heater hoses snap into it in the engine compartment. I just replaced the evap and don't want to pull the dash out again ...

Hey JRL if yer out there: heater core area is leaking mildly, should I just replace the o-rings with new silicone rings from ipd or should I also change out the heater core as well? The leak isn't bad, just a few drips, but the inside of my windows are fogging up at any given moment. Please advise.

Title. The proto SLG UL bolt has a bumper o-ring towards the back, its cross section is square / flat with a groove on the inside that matches a guide on the bolt so it doesn't slip. I went through the first one (found a split) and using the spare one but now it looks even worse. The o-ring list that came with the marker just says "bolt bumper front" no size indication except the ...

I have been running my truck on biodiesel since I bought it a year ago, and the previous owner ran it as well for a couple years. Had to replace all the return lines, caps and o-rings a few months ago. Now the fuel heater is leaking where the wire plugs into the fuel filter head. I went to the ford dealer to try and get the right o-rings for it, but they said it was obsolete and they had no ...

I have an injector o-ring in mine, as that's all I had when she decided to piss more fuel out the filter head than the engine uses up while idling. It was a bear to get that fat sucker in there, but alas, it's been leak-free for about a year now.

I did not read all the post. But I will have to agree with the general thought. And that is yes spend you time on EA71/81 engines. I would much rather rebuild my HL EA81 then an EJ and or EA82 plus it is way harder to come by a HL EA81 then just going to the junk yard. A 71 or 61 even harder to come by.
