So I searched this one in the KTM threads: O-ring chain vs. Non o-ring for KTM Dual Sport and found nothing. I've been running non o rings for years, just because when we used to road race back in the 80's the o-ring just meant more drag. My mechanic - Tom Houseworth (of yamaha fame) said:"you don't need the o-rings, they create too much drag". Well those words echo in my head every time ...

Just tried to put new 520 o-ring chain on 450. It will not clear the case behind the front sprocket due to a small, round pertrusion around 3mm proud of the casting. It hits on side of the chain pins, (the widest part of the chain). Anyone had this problem?

I'm looking for a new chain for my 150R Expert. I have looked everywhere for a #420 O-ring chain. Anyone know of a place that sells them? Also how many links of the expert model?

How is yours holding up ? I'm pretty impressed with the lack of stretch and this is the first bike I've had an o ring chain on. The problem is that the outer edge is getting wore down pretty flat. The chain guide is not eaten through and that is the only thing that could have caused this. I've got about 8hrs. on it(4 months) and that's usually what I got out of a non o ring before it was whipped...

What's the advantage or gains/losses I guess. My ZX-6R is my first bike with a X-Link and I was curious about why the X-link are on the Z powered and O-Ring chain is typically on the low power bikes. I know I've read the X is stronger and the seals are better for the long haul. Is there some mechanical advantage or something?

I have a 06 CR125 that I use mainly for trail riding. I need to replace the chain and was thinking of going with an O-ring chain. Are there any clearance issues going from the narrow non O-Ring chain to the wider O-ring type like on the crf250/450? Also I'm going to go with a bigger rear sprocket then the stock 50T. Thinking prolly just add one more tooth for a 51T. Anyone else riding these...
