I have a 68 FLH and am converting to an o ring chain. Anybody do this and what were the clearance issues with the inner primary. Ben

The biggest problem is the jack shaft housing where the starter bolts but you all so have this problem with a stock chain to a point. A lot has to do with what sprocket you are running on the transmission. I would put it on and check the clearance. It has been years but I have put them on old generator shovels. If you run a chain an O-ring is the only way to go.

Remove all Advertisements Just replacing an old chain on my street-only SM 650R. Got a new O-ring chain but somehow managed to snap the clip on the master link while trying to fit it. (If anyone knows the magical mystery of getting a master link seated on an O-ring chain let me know). Question is, can I use the master link off my old non-O ring ...

Remove all Advertisements Does anyone know if there is a problem with putting an o-ring chain on a TTR-125L? I'm hoping they'll last longer than the piece of junk stock chain. If I can't go with an o-ring chain, what would be the best replacement?

I didn't feel like paying $10 shipping for a $2 part ('04 washer) so here's what I did to space out my countershaft sprocket for O-ring chain use. My local Ace Hardware had the hardened 7/8" and 8mm washers. The 8mm washer probably isn't necessary but, obviously, doesn't hurt. I used a bit of blue Loctite on the bolt and torqued it to 23 ft/lbs.

The problem is that the chain has sat for quite a while (4-6 years) and the O-Rings have degraded. The chain is a little rusty and the O-Rings are cracked in some spots. The chain can probably be revived, but I obviously can't fix O-Rings. I don't plan on running it in the dirt so, should I just revive the chain and let the O-Rings do what they will? I don't really want to buy new f/r ...
