Hello, a friend of mine had to move into a nursing home this year at the grand age of 25. She is confined to bed and is able to do very little or have visitors for more than a few mins. She asked if some of her friends would do her a paper snowflake (like you make as a child) and put your name on them for the staff to decorate her room with. I'm trying to get lots of people to do them though in ...

I heard CNA usually need nursing home experience before getting a job in the hospital. But I've also met a rare one who got a hospital job right out of the school program.

Iron on labels have a hard time staying on secondary to the extremely hot water and strong detergent. Sewn on is preferred. Inked on namees tend to fade over time and need to be re-inked onto the garments. The skilled facility my mother had been in was dreadful and lost everything. I'd come in and find mother in old faded ill-fitting garments and hers would be gone. They even lost a small ...

I volunteer at a nursing home nearby with my dog, doing pet therapy a couple of times a month. It has poor ratings, and for very good reasons. The residents sit around in soiled clothing sometimes all day. Many of them smell of urine and some smell of feces. One room I was in last week was just rank. I could barely stand to be in there, and was glad they weren't all that into the pet visit. It...

Bela, you're "anxious and depressed everyday," have a number of medications you take to cope, and you're "burned out" but you're asking if you're a bad daughter? I think not. You must get yourself healthier to help your mother thru this next step in her journey. It IS hard, you WILL feel badly, but you will be able to help her in a way that maybe you can't do right now. Sometimes we caregivers...
