That's the translation of the inventors of UNAs ( http://www.ribotask.dk/index.php?pid=100 ).  Sorry, it is so obvious that it is a nucleotide. In today's presentation mdRNA claims: UNA= unlocked nucleobase analog and says that it is a 'non-nucleotide acyclic monomer'.  Out of curiosity, on slide 4, a 'C' atom is missing compared to a typical UNA monomer...is this a mistake or is this the ...

You are an embarrassment to Stanford doctorate holders.   This isn't a game and stop playing the fool. If you think the company is playing fast and loose, call them and tell them so, but don't go waving your advanced degree and expect you can sell your crap.   I suspect your quibble is with the Ribotask IP that dates back to the early 1990's.   Have a nice day. msg 14968

I believe the intent of these games is very obvious.  Sugars do not have to be 5C, but also can be 4C and it is still a sugar, although not a ribose, and I would think it still does not entitle mdRNA to single-handedly change the meaning of the UNA abbreviation. Let us put it this way: mdRNA moves here on very thin ice, and I have seen similar slides by former Sirna Therapeutics who ...

God bless you L o S for always going to the heart of the matter. You usually seem to have the scientific answers. I was surprised that the positive "non-human" primate data did not cause more of a stir, but so be it. I still believe that French and Co will "deliver" the goods. msg 14966

My guess is the difference between an unlocked nucleic acid and an unlocked nucleobase analog is the unlocked nucleic acid has the carbon bond in the sugar ring broken while the unlocked nucleobase analog has the carbon atoms removed.   Are you suggesting the absence of the carbon atoms is not significant? If you think the unlocked nucleobase analog without the carbon atom is a nucleotide, are...
