I have been trying to sort out how rapidly an improved insulin might be adopted by diabetics. In that effort I have gone back through Novo Nordisk annual reports. They market their rapid acting injectable insulin (called NovoLog in the USA and NovoRapid elsewhere). I believe Novolog/NovaRapid was introduced in the EU in 1999 and in mid 2000 in the USA. I couldn't find any sales data ...

I was wondering if anyone knows if Novorapid can misbehave and act like a long acting basal insulin in some people. My specialist appointment was today. My c peptide test result for a month ago came back and was 0.3. Is that low? A Ceptide (non fasting) of .3 seems a little low doesn't it to have natural basal insulin? One specialist said my novorapid is working for a longer period of time in ...

After an, er, 'eventful' Christmas in terms of BG management (you try leaving your Lantus on the other side of the country on Christmas Eve ), I've had to inject rather a lot of Novorapid over the last couple of days (250 units, fact fans). Leaving aside the unmitigated disaster that was my diabetes management over the festive period, as you might imagine, having to inject large amounts of ...

Why, over the course of a month, would my insulin needs have dramatically increased? For the last 3 years + I have been able to live on about 20-25 units of Novorapid per day, covering both my basal and bolus needs. Now, all of a sudden, I'm up to 35-40 units per day. My ratios used to be about 1 unit for 20/25 carbs. Now I'm at 1 unit for about 5 to 10 carbs. For me that is an ...

Hi everyone, I found this site a week ago, and after visiting at least once every day I thought I should finally register. I was dx'd on 28/5/2005 Currently taking: Novorapid Lantus (36U at bedtime) I had a good first few years, but recently things have been changing and I am struggling to find my way. Hopefully participating here will really get me back on track -David

Hey folks, When do you guys normally take your insulin shots? I usually take 3-5 units of Novorapid before lunch (and occasionally dinner), and 10 units of Levemir before going to bed. Let me know your numbers...

Ok, this may be hard for some t believe, in fact I mentioned it here before. So I did some more experimenting to verify it. Rapid acting insulins do nothing for me. Humalog and Novorapid(called Novolog in the US) don't do much, in fact, in some cases, I will correct, after eating nothign all day, and test again, and I am a point or two higher. I practically bathe in it. I am very ...

Hi, I've been type 2 for about 11 years. Started with diet & exercise, then to several drugs with Glyburide as the final one. Added NPH at bedtime and later sevral times a day. About 2 years ago started going into shock at night. Went on Novorapid instead. Still have incidents at night on occasion. In June started to have urine retention in a huge way. 1 1/2 weeks in hospital and 5 1/2 ...

Quote: I mix 60% NovoRapid 40% Regular Using a mix like 60% Novo/40%Regular in a pump, what does it do? Does the Regular act in such a way as to make combo boluses irrelevant? That would be good..... But does the Regular also slow down a correction for a high? That would be bad...... This is interesting......

I saw my CDE today. I complained about having a lot of bubbles in my resevoir and tubing, despite getting rid of them ALL when filling the resevoir. I don't re-use my resevoirs and change them every 3-4 days. The bubbles usually appear on the second day. She commented that she has other patients with the same problem, and the only thing we all have in common is using Humalog instead of ...
