ckeller is right on target. Also like to add "Unsupported" by Microsoft CRM Support which is a major drawback for any production system. Over the years - I observed a few cases were this was practiced (direct sql updates) even from CRM Support team to resolve some issues - really have to analyze all the current and future impacts. This falls into the "use at your own risk/support" area.
