I originally started a thread at Cable Forum but after 7 pages of replied and no end result, I got told to post my troubles to Think Broadband as yous are more DSL-aware. Basically my connection has dropped, significantly: I used to have a decent 1 Mb/s connection of which I could play games online on the PS3 and YouTube videos would actually buffer at normal rates, but now, my ...

Right, hoping some of you knowledgeable computer peeps can shed some light on this (screenshot link below): http://i43.photobucket.com/albums/e3...Connection. jpg Here's the connection statistics of my Tiscali Max (or what I suppose is now TalkTalk) - it's supposed to be "upto 8mbit" (with the emphasis on the "upto" bit!), and I live on the edge of coverage of the local exchange (...

My set up is: BT cable comes inside to master socket via A and B connectors on master socket. NTE2000 filtered faceplate on master socket. No other extensions or wiring. My line atten is 62dB, (netgear dg834G), and the noise margin is 6db. I'm about 3.5km by road from the exchange and BT have capped my line to 1MB due to sync losses. Line checkers suggest I should get 3MB on...

Hi Trying to get my head around this one. I'm sure it has been alluded to before. My noise margins often go negative at night. However, yesterday, after not using the computer for 4 days, I booted up at 5:30pm, and ran routerstats-lite and found the NM sitting at -4 db ... after an hour, they were still down there ... sync at 2400k. I re-booted the netgear, and lo and ...

Hi, For about 2 weeks now our internet connection has been disconnecting very frequently, to the point where it's virtually unusable. Before then it was OK with a couple of disconnections here and there, but nothing too bad. I've noticed it has something to do with the noise margin dropping to ~0, and then the connection cuts out, reconnects, and then the noise margin will drop again ...

Hi Guys. The story goes like this, I have been a Sky Broadband user for over three years, everything was fine untill a month ago. I have had their max package which I got on a special deal with their TV and Phone (now £45 for everything SkyTalk, Broadband and Sky+ TV). About a month ago I kept getting disconnected and download speeds kept dropping. I used to get 6.4Mps connection for ...

Sky unlimited LLU activated yesterday from BT option 3 I have noticed my down noise margin goes from a solid 14db to at the lowest, 2db in the evening. This jumps about continually between 2db up to 7db. I don't suffer a dropped line even at 2db. With BT my noise margin was about 10db dropping to about 7db at night. Download was slightly higher at about 4.5mb I have a Netgear ...

Time to put the faceplate on I reckon and try a day like that, still without the Sky box plugged in at all. But don't do it right now as you will get a poor speed at this time of day. Do it well into daylight tomorrow . Looking good, as we now know it is not the line itself. All we have to do is add things one at a time until it screws up again, and we will have identified the ...
