Standard backup software won't touch SQL server unless you stop SQL server first. Â Is there an SQL feature that will do this? Â Is there a no cost way to backup SQL server? Thanks!

I just installed Windows 7 and I am trying to create my first backup of all my files and folders to a CD and it it is taking a very long time. I went to sleep and left it to finish and now it is stuck on 82 % complete. No error messages or anything. This is the second time I have tried, first time it got stuck at 81%. What should I do? 1 person needs an answer I do too

@ Coolraul: we do not disagree, but after reading my post again I see how it can be interpreted that way. Off-site backups are the way to go, but no backup method by itself will guard against all situations. Also, I meant that the USB drive (or eSATA, etc) should be connected to the home computer, not the server. If it were, it would still leave room for compromise.
