I just picked up a used D3 for pennies...... and have no clue how to use it. It came with a 50mm f/1.4 AF-S (no clue what any of that means) lens and has enough menus/options to make me make to cry. Is there an idiots guide that will help me figure this thing out or does anyone have any tips? Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!...

Purchased in June of 2008, I would guess that it has around 20,000 actuations on the shutter. Other than the normal wear, it's 99% clean and in great shape, and everything works fine. Will be packaged in the original box with all original parts than came with it. I'd like to get $3,200 + shipping for it. Reason for selling: my daughters just got a D3S for me for the holidays! I will ...

I was shooting the other night and I got the FEE error message up on my LCD. I had my fisheye lens mounted which is a D-Type lens (with the aperture ring). I assumed it was the lens as when I put slight pressure on the aperture ring to to rotate it all the way to f/22 (auto) the camera was able to see the lens attached. The lens was locked at f/22. I then mounted my Nikon 50mm 1.4 D-type lens ...

Depends on your "framing" -- if you expect reflection-perfect results, then it's less satisfactory, but if you appreciate either the here's-a-new-artistic-representation-option (art) or I-got-the-shot-no-one-else-could-get (ka-ching), then it's a significant offering.

keep it. And go out and buy an advanced point and shoot like a Canon G9 or what ever is the newest. Learn the functions and how to operate it, then you should be fine with your D3. I started out on a Canon G9 and moved onto a Nikon D60.

I have a Fastpack 250 which will barely fit the D3/70-200/2.8 mounted, along with room for the other lenses you mention in the padded portion, with more room unpadded (at the top). It takes some re-configuring of the dividers to change lenses, but this is one of the more comfortable backpacks I've carried for a long period, loaded down. Beware the poor quality zippers on all ...

With the D3 in most high school gyms I need f2.8 and ISO-6400 to get a 1/500 sec shutter speed w/o strobes. If I had the D3s I'd shoot some at f2.8, ISO 12,800 @ 1/1000 and some at f2.8, ISO-6400, 1/500 and see which produced the better image. I would not trade a faster shutter speed or lower noise for greater depth of field or more focal length.

I ordered one through amazon (JR music), and I learned today that they were actually sold out :(. After some thought tho' I'm gonna try an mb-d10 on my D700, and see if that will tide me over til the D4.
