My wife currently shoots a d70 and I am looking to upgrade her to the D90 and I would like to get her some new glass. I have been looking at Prime lenses and I am wondering if anyone can provide some insight compaing the AF-S Nikkor 50mm vs. the 35mm DX lens. I have seen very positive reviews for both and I am wondering if the Nikkor 50mm is worth the extra money.

Unfortunately, the aperture blades on my Nikkor 20mm 2.8D are stuck wide open. Manually turning the aperture ring doesn't even move them. The ring turns fine, but nothing happens.
