Well, it looks like I dodged the bullet. I talked with my Neurologist yesterday, and she said that the hyperintensities are neither large enough, or in the correct Correct (new formula) locations for them to be MS, and that they are most likely due to migraine headaches. She thinks that my Cardiologist's original diagnosis of Dysautonomia, associated with Mitral Mitral ...

I had my 2nd MRI (brain) on Monday, November 16th (1st MRI was August 19th) I had my 4th appointment with my Neurologist on Tuesday, November 17th. [Note: Tech that did my MRI let it slip that there was now more than one cyst, she didn't say how many, and more lesions, again she didn't say how many] My Neurologist did not tell me anything about the MRI except "more of the ...

Well, I have to say I am very pleased with this neurologist, Dr. Franco. The staff was very nice and friendly, I didn't have a long wait, and Dr. Franco was a very kind man. I had filled out a bunch of paperwork/questionnaires before I even went, and he went through all of it with me, asking me questions about my ailments and symptoms and actually listening and suggesting even ...

Well, today is a decent day, emotionally speaking...I was just notified that I have an appt with the UCSF MS Center in San Francisco on Monday, Nov 30. I hope they will be able to help me. One question though...They mentioned that I may want to get a Neurologist closer to home (as I live in South Lake Tahoe, CA about 4 hours away from San Fran). Is this a good idea and is this...

Not that I had any doubt she would still be, LOL! So today was Alyssa's 6month follow up visit. I went in there with her report card, her Connor's Rating from her 3rd grade teacher (from end of last year), and her Connor's Rating from her 4th grade teacher (this year). We are very lucky and very grateful that Alyssa is a smart girl and can compensate for her lack of focus because she is ...

This analysis is by Steven Novella of the Yale University School of Medicine. He says he doesn't have enough information to diagnose Houben's condition, but he is much more certain that Houben is not likely the author of the statements attributed to him in the media. If you don't know about the case, you should definitely read all of Novella's post--and if you do know the...

I am a flight medic in the Air Force Reserves. I recently experienced a case of vertigo. After seeing my primary care doctor, I decided to see a Neurologist. The Neurologist ordered an MRI w/ contrast, I've seen and ENT Doctor and had several test done there, all coming back negative. My concern is my reserve unit is aware of this vertigo and has told me I would be grounded until seeing a ...
Dr. Carlos Pardo was trying to head off trouble. The Johns Hopkins neurologist and his colleagues had autopsied the brains of people with autism who died in accidents and found evidence of neuroinflammation. This rare look inside the autistic brain had the potential to increase understanding of the mysterious disorder. It also, he knew, could inspire doctors aiming to help children ...

My daughter will be four in January. She's been having some problems walking for the past two months. We have seen a neurologist who has given her meds for Dystonia, but we don't really know (and certainly hope that it's not) what it is. There is no test for Dystonia. In a lot of ways, we are ruling things out. She's not in pain and for a while, she seemed to be much better but she's been ...
