Hi, if I understood well, the new SMB2.0 protocol is used if both client and server understand it. In my scenario, I use two 2008 R2 servers that do understand this protocol. Whenever I try to do a transacted file operation (e.g. create a file using Kernel Transaction Manager) on the machines locally, everything goes well, so I know they support TxF. Now, I want to have a ...

I have a machine, Server 2003 Domain Controller, that has network shares on it. XP Pro SP3 machines trying to acess those shares are having some weird issues. When browsing to \\servername\, I get a blank page within Windows Explorer with '0 Objects' listed. When browsing to \\serverIP\, it works properly. When browsing to \\servername.domain-name.local\, it works properly.

I have problem with slow read response to files shared on my s2003r2 Domain Controller. When trying to access a shared folder form a client, there is sometimes a delay of say 10 to 15 seconds before the folder contents are displayed and file copies are sometimes slower that you'd expect. I've tried disabling ICF without any improvement. The problem may stem from hardening the server with SCW,...

Explorer hangs very often when attempting to read a network drive (shared & mapped) or even my DVD/CD Drive. I have to reinsert the DVD/CD so explorer reads / recognizes it. It is terribly slow and takes a long time and does not display the contents of the folder and on occasion hangs which requires a forceful shut down of the window. The address bar shows the green progress bar with ...

Found a small bug with 0.99 pb5 where if you select a network share as a location to rip to, then EAC brings up a "File Creation Error" message for every single track. But it does create all the folders correctly. A workaround is to mount the network share as a drive letter. Then the rip works as usual. Using WinXP SP3 on both machines with just a standard network share (simple file ...

Hi. I've been running Windows 7 and Vista and XP on my home network/domain. I recently upgraded from Server 2003 to Server 2008 R2 (64-bit). After doing so, when i download a file from the internet, from any workstation, to a network share, the download is nearly immediate but then when it reaches 99%, it hangs for upwards of 30 - 40 seconds. For example, i can download Adobe Reader, a 32 meg...

Good afternoon. I have a Windows 2003 Server with SP2 and latest patches installed on a network (no domain, just WORKGROUP). I also have several Windows XP Pro workstations as well (most are SP3 but a couple are SP2) â these also are not domain members, they are all WORKGROUP. Except for SP3, the XP systems are up to date as far as patching. It is a small network (single subnet, ...

So, I've been dealing with an extremely frustrating problem (probably have 3-4 hours already sunk in this so far and not much to show for it). I'm trying to bring the first Vista (Business) PC up at a customer location and we immediately noticed a big speed problem when accessing processes on a network share. Unfortunately, our server is still an old NT 4 server, but we're really not ...

How do I mount a network share (samba/cifs) at boot time? I know I can auto mount a drive when a user logs in but this is not the function I seek. I thought since OSX is Unix, etc/fstab would do the job. I couldn't have been more wrong. heh. Many thanks.

I have a very strange thing that just started heppening. In my Business Portal I have exposed a network file share where we store some of our FRX reports. If anyone goes to the BP and opens the report, drill down viewer will open but the report will not be displayed. If the user goes directly to the share the same thing ...
Hi A few years ago we created a package using Veritas winstall for a program called GamesBox. It was working fine until recently but now if a user attempts to run the application it comes up with an error which says "the feature you are trying to use is on a network resource that is unavailable. It works for administrator though which made me it must be a permissions problem. All our ...

I am trying to access a network share on a vista pro computer from my windows 7 laptop. A couple of weeks ago I was able to see the drive and also make some directories available offline. Now I can't access the drive. I can remote login to the vista machine but I can't acess the drive or sync the offline directories. I note that the vista machine is on a different domain than my laptop but ...

Hello All, I am new to IIS and I am looking for some help with a project I am doing. We have a standard file share that has share and NTFS permissions. Many departments have storage on this share. We map this share to users using unc path. To avoid using a vpn for laptop and home users. We would like to make the share accessible using FTP or WebDav. Is this even possible and if so could ...

Hello MrShannon, I went to connect.microsoft.com and have registered. I agree that I do not know what is the appropriate connection directory to use for Windows Media Center bug. I would then send an email to https://connect.microsoft.com/Main/help/emailsuppo rt.aspx?Category=1 and ask them where to report a bug for this area. Please reply back and let us know what was stated from the ...

HI. Thanks, i'll check out the settings you suggested. I have only 1 XP laptop and it's rarely used. More of a backup if one of my primary laptops needs to be sent in for repair. I am currently on Server 2008 and i did a CLEAN fresh brand new install. Nothing migrated over. As mentioned, under Server 2003, i had no issues with any workstation/OS... Xp, Vista, Win 7. Thappened only after ...
