I would be grateful if anyone could tell me the minimum level of NICs to qualify in any year for that year to contribute to Statutory State Pension provision(to be 30 years needed for full Pension from April next year) and also what gross wage would this would equate to per week for these minimum NICs. Thank you in advance.

I'm self employed and have been for about 4 years. I was declared BU on 4th Dec 2007 with discharge on 4th Dec 2008. I've just received a bill for NIC for £225 which they say must be paid. The £225 runs from Dec 07 until now .... I was under the impression that Tax and NIC contributions didnt apply during the period of BU ... i.e. Dec 2007 - Dec 2008 in my case?

So far I have covered 4 years out of 30 in order to qualify for a state pension? anyone else in the same boat...
