Do any of you have a naptime routine? My night routine includes a bath, a last feeding in a dark room, and walking around for 5-10 minutes with a pacifier. It works like a dream, so I want to try something for naps. Currently he has to be walked around for 30 minutes or so before falling asleep for a nap. I can't give him a bath 5 times a day, so do you have any suggestions? (and reading ...

Yesterday Olivia wouldn't nap. As of today it is 2:25 pm and she still won't nap. If her naptime gets pushed back any further she won't sleep at night . Olivia use to take 1 1/2- 2 hour naps. When this happened yesterday I thought maybe it was just a fluke and I thought maybe she would just start taking shorter naps. Looks like naptime does not exist in this household anymore . Any one ...

So Aurora has been STTN for a while now and for the last 3 months or more has not been swaddled while doing so. But her daytime naps are a different story. I can not get her to nap unless she is swaddled - and she gets so darn tired sometimes. It's getting hard to swaddle her - she's grown out of her SwaddleMe and all her blankets aren't long enough. I'd prefer to stop swaddling her anyways...

Do you get your baby out of their crib/playpen/wherever they sleep as soon as they are awake or do you wait for them to "ask you" to come get them out (like cry or call to you etc)..

Alexs whole routine has changed and his naps are all over the place. He used to sleep little and often but now sleeps in bigger chunks less often (mostly!) But the problem is getting the time of them right. I usually let him sleep when hes getting tired but hes starting to stay awake for too long and trying to nao too late in the day when its going to interfere with his bedtime. Hes ...

I posted this question two years ago and received lots of great ideas. Now that we have so many new members, I thought it was time to discuss this again. What are your best practical tips for surviving the holidays with RA?

I'm trying to do a gentle form of sleep training, focusing on nighttime since doing both night and naps can be really hard, and he's still a bit young. But, I'm still trying to get the fundamentals down. I've been trying to get him to nap in his crib. He does, but he won't usually nap longer than 30 mins or so. Yesterday, he took 3 naps that only added up to less than 2 hrs altogether. I ...

My little guy (10 weeks old) seemed to go down for naps better before, as in just KONK out. Now he seems to be fighting them. I have two older children so I can't keep rocking or walking him around when he's tired and fussy. I don't want to continue to put him in his swing becuase I don't want him to always expect to be rocked/swung to sleep - esp when he's two! I am sincerly hoping that ...

I just had to let you all know that I FINALLY got rid of the crib today! Not that it bothered me that Zion still slept in it, I actually enjoyed having him confined sometimes, especially when he's resisting naptime ;-) But as my belly grows bigger and he gets heavier it's soooo hard to lift him in and out of the crib! So a good friend of ours gave us a practically new twin bed she was ...

( My son is 4 1/2. He has been in preschool since he was 3 and naptime has been an on again/off again issue. Recently his teacher told me he will lay quietly for 10 or so minutes and that is it. Then he is making noises and distracting the other kids. My son stopped napping around the time he turned 3. I have tried making him "practice" laying quietly at home, using rewards, etc. He does ...

I wish people would understand: * that my son is a person, not a toy, and he does not do command performances. He has a routine, a bedtime, a naptime etc... and just because you want him to come to your 8:00 get-together doesn't mean that it is fair to him to break his routine! * that it is disgusting and completely unnecessary when strangers kiss babies' (toddlers') hands. They put ...
