My endocrinologist's nurse educator taught me that I can inject in my upper arm, upper thigh or stomach area-so I've been injecting in my stomach area (plenty of fat there!)-but I've been reading that it might be more beneficial for NPH to be injected in the thigh or upper arm since it's longer-acting. What do you think? Does it make a difference?

We always refrigerated the vetsulin but the novolin nph (relion) said something about room temperature. Can the NPH be stored in the fridge and if so does it need to come to room temperature before using? With the vetsulin I would warm it in my hand by holding the syringe before giving... is that still ok or a no-no?

When our current supply of vetsulin runs out we will be switching to NPH. Our usual vet just had surgery and can't answer questions just yet (hopefully back before we switch)! I know to get the u100 syringes. Our vets partner is calling in the rx to Walmart and recommends an even exchange- ie we give 16 units of vetsulin so start at 16 units of NPH. Anything in particular you know to watch for? ...
