As everybody knows, in 2003 the Cubs had a great chance to go the world series. In game six of the NLCS, with one out and a man on second base, Luis Castillo hit a ball into the left field stands. It was a foul ball, over the wall, and 5 or 6 fans reached for it. Steve Bartman ended up hitting it, and Cubs fans think he's the reason they lost the series (also, the ball was fair game for ...

Kershaw threw a brilliant 5 innings in Game 1 last year and then unraveled in the 6th inning. Then Sherrill gave up a 3 run bomb to Ibenez in the 8th inning of that same game. If Kershaw didn't lose his stuff in the 6th inning game 1 was winable. Oh the terrible 8th and 9th inning of Game 4. Kuo dominated in the 7th inning of that game following Wolf. Kuo after finishing that inning leaving the...

JP was the heart and soul of this team. Trade that pregnant women testosterone user, Ma'am Ram. Manny Ramirez uses PED's and ends up getting cheered, how pathetic is that! Manny never really helped out the team. It was HCG that took us all the way to the NLCS in 2008! JP is a good sport. And good sports are great baseball players!

By not acquiring Halladay, ownership/management has shown that it is not committed to winning a WS title. The past two years they made it to the NLCS and lost to the Phillies both times. But instead of going out and acquiring the top pitcher available, they go out and get yet another stopgap type player in Carroll and acquire some no-name pitchers. Aside from the Braves of the 90's (who I ...

I don't think anyone would disagree that obtaining a bat that would allow the team to go deep into the playoffs would be a good investment. I think the ownership group understands this. The problem is correctly gauging which bat (or more likely, bats) will allow the team to do that. It's not just a matter of "open up the wallet, sign Bay, and were in the NLCS." It's just not that easy. ...

Weren't you adamant on the Dodgers not making any moves because they had the best record last season? Never that. I said numerous times here that I wanted Halladay, I wanted Edwin Jackson, I still would love Brandon Phillips or Dan Uggla. My point is that trying to say something like "The Dodgers have major holes to fill" was inaccurate at best. Maybe in your eyes the Dodgers don't ...

QUOTE (TheGooRoo @ Dec 14 2009, 05:59 PM) QUOTE (modogg @ Dec 14 2009, 05:07 PM) Rumors all day have been that the Phils will get Halladay. Unfortunately will lose Lee in the deal, but i think grabbing them to win the NLCS at +350 is worth a shot because i am guessing that number will go down from here. I played it light because that is a long, long time away. Mo, you ...

Actually. After the trade of Stymie payroll for 2010 is at 47 million. Arbitration is expected to add 20 million leaving McLoan with a payroll of roughly 70 million for 2010. 70 million and he was unable or unwilling (more likely both) to pay Halladay or Lackey. Hallday would have made it 90. Lackey less than that. Then to fill the bench roles might add 5-8 million bringing the payroll to ...
