When using the "Capture Network Settings" task in a Configuration Manager 2007 (SCCM 2007) OSD Task Sequence on a PC that has teamed NICs, not all of the settings of the NIC may be captured properly. This mainly applies to DNS and WINS settings that are set statically. In these cases the settings are not captured and instead are set to obtain from DHCP when the network settings are restored ...

I would like to compile a complete list of what NICs are supported for different OS's I currently have TIVOs with the following OS's 4.0b 6.1 & 6.2a. What file(s) should I look at on my TIVO to determine what will work with Each? I will publish my findings here. Thanks in advance for any help.

I am new to this forum. I am trying to setup a HP blade (BL460) server with 2 nics on sles10sp3. I want one nic to connect to a management vlan and and second to connect to the standard network. It should be possible for a desktop in the standard network to connect to either nic by providing the correct ip address. My goal is to use this server as our first virtualisation ...

I have been thinking about getting a Gaming NIC. Has anyone ever had one or know if they really provide an improvement to make the $100 cost worth it? http://www.bigfootnetworks.com/killer-xeno-pro/

I have two Dell hosts and right now they have 4 ethernet interfaces, and I am adding two more for a total of 6. I will be hooking these up to a Dell Equallogic SAN. So what would be the best practice to utilize the NIC's? These server are pretty hefty and will have around 8 Vm's on them, doing load balancing and then live migration for updates. Both serves have 64 gigs of ram and plenty of ...

Title says it all I guess... if we add another internet line at work, which distro will allow for two reds? I read somewhere that Smoothwall or IPCop won't(and these are the two I am currently familiar with) Thanks guys.

First, Orb will not bind to multiple NICs. It just picks one of them and binds to it. I need it to bind to multiple networks at the same time. Second, Orb cannot be run as a service with DOMAIN credentials. I tried passing in "DOMAIN\User" and "User@domain.tld" but it didn't like it. I need to run it with domain credentials otherwise it will not be able to access the media content on network ...

EeePC 900, openSUSE 11.2 I had a working setup where wired and wireless nics were controlled by KnetworkManager and Huawei USB stick was used via wvdial. Everything was _so_ well. Zypper up updated the networkmanager and now wvdial does not work at all. Everything starts fine, authentication is success and then: The ppp daemon has died. A modem hung up the phone (exit ...

I currently have an ISA Server with 4 NICs: 2 - Internet-facing 1 - DMZ-facing 1 - Internal-facing Currently the 2 internet-facing NICs are different IPs, and the different IPs are just used to publish separated SSL certificates. One of them has the SSL certificate for the host name of the TSG, and one has the SSL certificate for the host name of the Exchange. We're a small ...

Hi all. We are trying to get our server's teamed NICS into a trunk setup on our 5412zl switch. While I have found instructions online on how to do this, some say I have to apply this trunk to a VLAN. Does a trunk setup need to also be configured for a VLAN to work correctly? I rather keep this setup as simple as possible. I just want the redundancy and any speed increase I can get. ...

I'm hoping to get some pointers and suggestions about how this can best be done. I am installing two Dell r805 servers, each with 6 NICs, and a PS4000 SAN with dual controllers (4 ports total). I will be putting two switches in place, in order to avoid having a single point of failure. The switches will be Dell or 3Com webmanaged layer 2/3 switches, with VLAN and jumbo frame capability....

About 2 months ago i stopped by my usual FFL guy to pick up the Sig P6 i had ordered online, and after getting off the phone for the NICS check he mentioned that everytime he does one of these for me the first person he talks to isn't able to give authorization, they have to go up to the next level before they will give me the OK. That struck me as odd, considering that i have absolutely no ...
