If Carl was just a kid when Muntz flew off to find the bird, then surely by the time Carl flew his house out there (at the age of 78, according to IMDB), Muntz would be long dead, or at the very least, majorly decrepit. Yet Muntz looks roughly the same age as Carl, if not even a little younger. Was this an oversight on Pixar's half, or did I get something wrong here?

No kidding. When Carl and Russel landed on the plateau, I knew they'd meet Charles Muntz there. Maybe I watched too many animation movies. Loved it but I think it's not as good as Finding Nemo and Polar Express. Those two are funnier and more intense.

I really liked the Many Endings of Muntz segment on the DVD/BR, and thought the filmmakers did a good job of explaining their choices regarding him. I liked Pete Docter's comments about having a 'hierarchy" of characters, and always coming back to the fact that this was Carl's story. I don't think they could have believably "redeemed" Muntz - he's just too far gone into madness ...
