I am looking into buying an Audi A4 current model and am considering going for the multitronic version. i have never owned an automatic car before and am wondering if there is any disadvantages over a manual. It will be a 2.0TDI 143bhp. Which is more troublesome manual or auto. I have heard the stories about the DMF. Any experience with either would be appreciated.

Recently my 2003 A4 Multitronic avant has developed a judder when accelerating (like the clutch is slipping) I rang a respected Dublin transmission specialist and he seemed to recognise the problem straight away (needs new 7 plate clutch modification?) and told me it would cost 1500 plus vat to repair Anyone else encounter this before and how much would it cost to repair in UK or Northern ...

Hi All My Dad is thinking of getting one of these. His seen a nice 2005 model at a good price . Is there any issues with this model car ? Also its appears to be a 2.0TDI. I always thought the VAG was 1.9TDI - Is there any major difference between the two engines ?

Hi all, I've just returned to the Audi fold with the purchase of a 2004 AUDI A4 1.8T 190 S Line [6] 5dr Multitronic Avant. Its got the Audi Navigation System, which can be used with your phone. I have a 2001 A6 2.4SE Multitronic which is a great car but has a few minor things to iron out. Hi all, first post and looking for advice , got my eye on a 2001 A4 75000 miles Timing belt replaced 70000, with FSH but its had gearbox probs in the past. Auto multitronic gear box has been rebuilt new gaskits and oil with replacement ECU. So what would anyone think of this?

My engine has a strange characteristic. It's a 2.4 V6, FWD with multitronic auto. For almost the entire rev range, it's every bit as smooth as you'd expect it to, but at 1800rpm, there's a noticeable tremor. As soon as the rev counter goes past 1800, it smooths out again. If you go to the Audi UK website, you cannot custom build an Audi A4 Cab any more. Has it been dropped? Also I notice that the Multitronic box is still being pushed out on A5 Cabs bigger engines (2.7 TDI for example). With all the problems and failures Audi have had with is gear box, I would thought they would have dropped it by now?

When you drive the CVT in manual mode, is it slower to accelerate? I would think since the CVT in auto mode keeps the engine in the optimal power band it would go faster, no?
