Yesterday I caught a knee in the mouth. I sincerely believe I might have lost a front tooth if I hadn't worn the mouthguard, as even with it I had to check in the mirror to make sure my teeth were allright.

Our club was a lot of fun. Composed of some former wrestlers, some amateur boxers, and athletes. Everyone knew something, I learned a little wrestling (love me some throws) and basic BJJ. I'm way out of my league when it comes to professional fighting but it's really neat to see how the body works in different holds, etc. One word of advice though - mouthguards are worth their weight in gold.

I really don't know...but I'm interested to find out. That or mouthguards...they're supposed to absorb the majority of the impact and reduce brain injury...if they fail, the act of being punched repeatedly in the head/face for the better part of an hour in three-minute-intervals would be traumatic regardless what other safety efforts were taken.
