Western Mountaineering ExtremeLite bags I'm looking for feedback about the durability of the fabric these bags are made with. How well do they handle condensation? Does a lot of down poke through? I'm going to get a WM bag, but I'm not sure whether to get an ExtremeLite bag or one of the microfiber bags. Thanks!

The Naval Academy has revitalized the Mountaineering club and as the President I am looking for help from the more seasoned backpackers and Outdoors men. If you were in a club in college, are in one now, or just have ideas that you would like to share, any help would be greatly appreciated. The club is designed to get Midshipmen outside and to utilize the various talents of other midshipmen...

I saw one a few years ago of a troop of ladies in their huge skirts and frilly bloomers trecking up a snow covered mountain in the large sunday hats and thought it was amazing . Or the photo's you get of the old boys in tweed doing huge climbs in the cairngorms, I love it. If you have...

First let me say, this site rocks! I come from a climbing, mountaineering, canyoneering, caving etc. background and just heard of arboring from an arborist on campus. I've become really intrigued and have been looking up techniques and have been amazed at some of the problem solving techniques you all have come up with and use, very innovative! So allow me to ask what is probably the simplest ...

Howdy, I was wondering if anyone had a link to where one could buy pre-boiled (dachstein-type) wool? And possibly, if anyone had plans to make mitts ala dachstein mountaineering mitts? My girlfriend's mother and grand-mother are both very capable knitters and told me if I could give them the wool I wanted + plans, they could make me mitts. Any help is welcomed! Fish

I'm leaning towards these two (Scarpa and Asolo AFS Evoluzione): http://www.rei.com/product/719716 http://www.rei.com/product/780182 The Asolos seem to have gotten much better reviews around the web in terms of comfort, but both seem like they'll get the job done at a reasonable price.
