I gave my old Q to Conflipper to test with, as far as I know he has bricked every one so far. There is a thread at ppcgeeks he was keeping updated, but it has gone stale. I have not really kept up on it, as I haven't used a Q or a cdma device for a while. Try ppcgeeks.

It is under settings>text input. If you do not have that option then something went wrong during your "upgrade". Since you have a Q8 I would assume you did not get the official update. Also registry changes only take hours if that is how long you take to reboot your system.
