my 2009 Nissan Rogue AWD S users manual suggest that I use 5W30 motor oil, but at my local store they currently have the Quaker state 5W20 on sale. Can I use 5W20 instead of the recommended 5W30 ? Will this void my warranty ?

I managed to grab the container where the AT fluid was supposed to be: 1)Open hood, get dog out of car, grab container, answer phone. 2)Pour. 3)Look at container color. Doh! 4)Stop. I think I only added about 1/8th to 1/4 of a pint of 5W-30 into a Subaru trans, but it was running and circulated. Any damage done?

The other day I grabbed what I thought was a 5 gallon of valvoline max high mileage 5w-30 oil synthetic blend. i always use this in the winter. After doing the oil change at night I looked at the bottle and saw it was really 5w20 blend. I live in Ny state and it is getting cold here and sometimes with a wind chill it goes below 0 degrees farenheit. I've only driven the car very short distances ...

Want to know if any of you guys ...

Here is a list of M-1 ZDDP and phosphorous levels for all their common oils http://www.mobiloil.com/USA-English/MotorOil/Files /Mobil_1_Product_Guide.pdf Note that Prorsche and flat tappet applications are specifically noted. Does the Subaru have a drain plug in the torque converter? All the American iron (RWD) usually has. Unless you drain the torque converter too, you will only get a fraction of the fluid out. I second the guys who say you need pro advice to get it all out. Trans fluid and engine oil have very different properties. George
