He also has a motor ins. policy for his own car, for general useage. He has 3rd party only insurance, yet has always had an ...

Anyone had any experience of them? Our car (whilst parked) was run into outside our house a couple of weeks ago, the unknown driver left the scene without leaving details leaving us with an insurance claim, the car off the road for 2 weeks and a £250 excess to pay. Merry Xmas! The police officer who attended advised us to try to claim back our excess through the MIB. We've initiated ...
A couple of weeks ago, a neighbour, hit the back of my parked car with his company van. He was very good - left a note admitting responsability, followed up by a letter detailing his company's insurance details - so no aggravation, there. The 'damage' to my car looked, initially, to be quite superficial. However, it has just been assessed and the bodyshop has given me an 'estimate' of over ...

Not only will you have to pay the excess, but it will go down as a 'fault' accident against you when you insure for the next 3 to 5 years - bumping up your premium. We have this with wife being a named driver on my policy. One accident 4y ago her fault. Another accident same month. Hit by driver that was being chased by police. Plod denied this though, they call 3 police cars with lights and ...
