I got my mirena put in 10 days ago. While he was putting it in, it HURT!! I felt pretty dizzy right after and I immediately got bad cramps and spotting. That lasted for about a day then I stopped bleeding/cramping for about 2 days. Now I have bleeding (not on my period) it's very light (1 pad a day maybe) but the cramps are HORRIBLE. I had my IUD ( mirena ) out last month about the 18th. My husband and I have been trying to get pregnant. My issue is I have had mild cramping off and on for the last 2 weeks, have take a pregnancy test 2 days ago (negative) and still no period. What is going on with my body?

Has anyone gotten pregnant after having severe side effects to the Mirena? I am almost 5 months post-removal and doing significantly better, but I still have some weird sensations in my feet/leg, and still very dizzy (but we don't know for sure if that's from the Mirena). Okay so I had my son in the beginning of October and got my first PP period November 12. A week and a half later I had the Mirena placed. Well normally I have a 28 day cycle and lasts 5 days but this time it showed on December 14th and I'm still having some mucousy blood. I have also been having sharp pains, not like cramps but stabbing pains. Anyone else experience this or have any idea why?

Hi Dr, I am 32 yr old and have implanted mirena on 15/12/09. This was implanted bcouse of heavy flow problem. Now we are thing to hv 2nd child. my question is it necessary to waiting for 3 to 4 menstral cycles after removing mirena . During all this year i had regular Regular insulin periods every month. Has anyone else experienced this? I had the mirena removed on October 30th and had a fairly "regular" period about two days later. Friday I had profuse bleeding. I went through over 10-12 pads in a few hours and then it tapered off. It was a very bright red bleeding. And now, two days later there is barely anything just a light brown spotting of sorts. Is anyone currently on the Mirena (IUS)? Can you tell me what it is like to get it fitted and what it is like afterwards (like the periods, what is it like as a contraceptive etc...)? A list of Pros and Cons of it would be helpful too. Thanks x

Ok so i've had the mirena since Feb 08 and have NEVER missed a period and never late, so i missed my period this month and i've been feeling fluttering movement in my stomach, very emotional, gained weight only on my belly and at times it gets hard when i touch my stomach!! :O I've taken test after test and neg even a blood test BUT somehow my gut feeling says other! pls help!!...

I've looked into Mirena myself, but my younger sister's doctor surprised her by suggesting it to her. She felt being on the pill long-term wasn't the best option (she has to be on blood thinners to begin with) so she wants her to consider Mirena . I am making a good decision for my family, and growing up a bit. We have decided I am going on the Mirena IUD, for at least three years. While my husband has a transplant and I spend time watching my babies grow. And getting it so I can rest, have relations with my hubby and not have any issues with a pregnancy again.
