Under minarchist thought, one of the core functions of government is to provide military protection to a country & its citizens. But wouldn’t that include protecting American businesses from (aggressive) protectionist policies in foreign nations? Moreover, were it not for American hegemony, wouldn’t many foreign governments be much more inclined to impose strong protectionist measures, & much ...

I'm an anarchist, but I would have no objection to a minimalist state (minarchy), if it was limited to enforcing the abolition of capitalism (which in practical terms would mean the criminalizing of private ownership of the means of production). I.e., the opposite of what minarchism usually means (nightwatchman state, limited to protecting such property). I think anyone who objects to this is in ...

I just read the 11 page thread regarding calling CPS for CIO and swearing at children. It was very interesting, and got me to thinking. (Caveat: I am what you may call a libertarian, but in reality I'm a capitalist-anarchist who is willing to strive towards minarchism.) There's a little test some of us use to determine if involvement by the state is appropriate, often called the "...

Where do people get the idea that minarchism equals rightism? I mean, the "right" was originally monarchists; the term started during the French Revolution. I can understand how leftism grew out of the revolutionary movement? But come on. Minarchism is NOT "right".

And the younger generation sees that more clearly than ever before. The Free State Project has a good mix of minarchists and anarchists, and you can clearly see the generational correlation. Anarchy/anarcho-capitalism/voluntaryism/agorism/et c appeals to the young looking for truth because it is consistent and correct. If you want to grow the movement and have a real shot at achieving liberty...

Quoted from Wikipedia, On Free market : "Because no national economy in existence fully manifests the ideal of a free market as theorized by economists, some critics of the concept consider it to be a fantasy - outside of the bounds of reality in a complex system with opposing interests and different distributions of wealth." and also "Support for the free market as an ordering ...

As for me im thinking of becoming a fully paid up member of the libertarian party which I believe to be the fastest growing political party in the UK since its formation in January 2008. http://lpuk.org/ If you wish to know my political stance i would describe myself to be a minarchist. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Minarchism
