Background: EBF and DD is 4.5 months - she's always slept a lot at night but the past few evenings she's been sleeping up to 11 hours. I pump before and after the morning feeding bed but I'm still going like 9-10 hours, which I'm more used to no more than 8 hours at night (then feeds 2.5-3 hours during the day) This morning I woke up with a sore right breast in a matter of a couple hours, I ...

My LO is 9 months and I have never had a clogged milk duct until last week. Since last week the same duct has clogged 3X. It is very painful. I have tried massaging it and heat. What else can I do?

I am exclusively pumping and it has been four months that I have been doing this. I have read all the prevention methods and treatment methods for clogged ducts, but nothing works except for harshly massaging my breast. Frankly, I wouldn't even call it "massaging" but more "squeezing and the life out of my breast." The clogs always happen in various areas. I have tried EVERYTHING to prevent ...

Has anyone had a clogged milk duct? I think that is what I have. There is a lump in my breast that hurts very badly. When I pump it takes a little while to let down. If you have had one, how long do they take to go away?

2 nights ago my right boob really hurt on one side- I thought it was engorged and got up and pumped. I had some relief- not much. I thought it would feel better when baby fed. Well, it felt a little better, but has been hurting off and on and now it feels hard only in one spot and that area was red last night and when I pumped this morning, only a little came out of that side. Is this a blocked ...

When I had my DD (eight years ago) I had breast infections a handfull of times. My midwife told me to nurse my daughter in whatever position I could that had her chin pointing towards the clogged/infected duct. She said that the suck is strongest that way. I once had to lay her on the floor and get down on the floor over her to get her in the right position. It worked every time. Maybe have...

Yes, you can totally have a clogged duct. If the plumbing in there is working, anything's possible. Just pump/massage/express as you can. That's what I had to do for a few months last pregnancy as my almost-2yo was sorta starting to wean, but not really evenly so it was, uh, painful. That said, my sister? Who has never been pregnant? Had a clogged milk duct up by her armpit a few years ago...

i would not pump cause by stimulating your breasts you can casue contrations to begin. That is one reason they suggest you BF ASAP after delivery since it helps the uterus begin to contract and stop bleeding! Call your OB or talk to a lactation consultant!
