I came across this from mediamatters while researching newsmax Newsmax columnist: Military coup "to resolve the 'Obama problem' " is not "unrealistic" September 29, 2009 5:57 pm ET by Terry Krepel From John L. Perry's September 29 Newsmax column : There is a remote, although gaining, possibility America's military will intervene as a last resort to resolve ...

Here is the full text of John L. Perry's column on Newsmax which suggests that a military coup to "resolve the Obama problem" is becoming more possible and is not "unrealistic." Perry also writes that a coup, while not "ideal," may be preferable to "Obama's radical ideal" -- and would "restore and defend the Constitution." Newsmax has since removed the column from its website . I ...

I was talking to my uncle and he is telling me with the presidential elections coming up they had their general of the army express dismay at how corrupt the political system is and that he fears it can not be solved currently through the system they have in place. I find it kinda funny that the same general that prevented a coup, of then popular pro-NATO president, by prime minister's ...

The first thing the Afghan army in training are taught is, 'Loyalty to the nation of Afghanistan'. At what stage does the army, and here is the paradox, turn round and bite the hand that feeds it. Namely us, the invaders. I would think the most loyal fighters at this time are the Taliban, they are the ones fighting for Afghanistan. That aside, if things go to plan and we do somehow ...

Well, if history is any example (and it always is), what happens in this sort of military coup is that hardline elements of the military seize power. It's not going to be every single grunt, gravedigger, and cadet who is in on the plot. A small cadre of officers will claim to be righting some illegitimate action and depose the president. They'll move quickly to put him in isolation...

While I disagree with some of the directions that Obama is moving in, I do not look at it as an Obama problem. After all, at worst he can hold office for only 8 years. Until which time he has attempeted to do something way worse, even contemplating a 'coup' is not the twilight zone, but beyond this this galaxy. Regardless of our comfort or discomfort with the present leadership in ...

I think the main problem we face in government right now is the unreasonable expectation that everything must be done to one person's or another's vision of perfection. Life is not that way - and neither is government Isn't this the downside of party politics in democracies. To many politicians are compelled to vote the party line rather than with their beliefs and conscience. --The...

These lazy, cowardly bungholes even want a deferment from their own revolution. Totally worthless. If they really want to improve America through shooting, I recommend that they start with themselves. (Note: The above is for the purpose of humor. No one shoot themselves or others...except in the case of self-defense.)

It's true that the US has historically worked to topple democratic movements in that part of the world, often with much bloodshed, but it remains to be seen if it will happen again against Venezuela. Obama is not George W. Bush either, but it makes one question exactly if Obama is in control or if he is just a figurehead if Hugo Chavez is again toppled by American interests.
