Because it's a military base and as such should remain apolitical. If people have a political agenda they are free to peddle it out side the front gate. I have a problem allowing private citizens on to US bases to sell anything. The PX wants to stock the book fine. She can stand outside the front gate and sign them to her heart's content.

Pendleton in particular is what I was speaking of. The other thing that freaked me out was the commercial traffic, lots of vending machines on base plus McDonalds, BK, etc. Can you imagine a Frito-Lay van filled with c-4 rolling around a base?
