Ok, there appears to be those who love Avon (Storm front, Azaro rear) or oversize Metzler ME880s (160/80-16 rear, 130/70-18 front) . Had a rear tire blow out in Washington State. Got a new metzler wide whitewall installed at the nearest H.D. dealer. Cost me 219.25 for the tire and $93.75 for mounting and balancing. Does that seem right? Seems high to me, Maybe I,m just getting cheap in my old age.

Have had them on my 2006 K1200R as replacement for Michelin Pilot Sport. 3000k later all ok. Different feel to the Michelin though, a bit loose over rough roads and potholes, but confidence-inspiring when leaning into corners. 36 front and 42 rear for road riding.

John, Most of my travel is in winter so I can't vouch for heat but I can assure you that I very rarely find a corner here in Swan Hill. Long and flat roads normally. I currently have the Avon setup on the bike. The front has done 9000km and is showing a little sign of wear in the middle.
